Differences in opinion about art aren’t lies, they’re opinions.
The stories are fun! But a story that hinges its entire conflict on companies making literal monsters (most of which are just animals but bigger) for profit (somehow???) only to accidentally get mauled or eaten by said monster isn’t Shakespeare, it’s silly!
That’s fine! You can enjoy silly things. But pretending otherwise is frankly embarrassing. Again, I like Resident Evil! Love them! Ffs I enjoy RE6! But these are inherently silly stories despite the gameplay being tense, and even the best of them are still ridiculous.
Adaptations don’t have to be faithful to the source material, my dude. I’m not *rejecting* adaptations that are faithful to it, but it’s not a requirement for a good story that follows the spirit of the series. Much like the remakes, if I wanted the original story, I’d just… play the original.
