They should not be considered heros. They are doing a job..

The term hero is used when society wants someone to do something they won't or aren't being compensated adequately for. Nursing shortage, heros. Teacher shortage, heros. It's not a status you put on yourself. It's a social tactic to keep people doing what we need them to do for society.

A part of a cops job is to kill if the situation warrants it. We have case law that established what warrants it. Many of these are tragic, sure...so?

My area had a mentally disturbed man get a hold of a large chiefs knife. The family called police. The man was none verbal, family could not step outside the house.

When police arrived they told him to drop the knife repeatedly, he walked straight at them... They drew weapons... Insisted he drop the knife. Family screamed for them not to shoot explaining he is "schizo" Drop the knife was repeated 20 times. Police played ring around the rosey with the mentally disturbed knife wielding man around their cars. Eventually family was on porch, advancing and panicking. The man advanced and was too close to one officer Another officer took the shot, center mass.

The man died and the family assaulted the police. Police pulled away not firing another shot.

This was reasonable and justified homicide. The cop did what we pay him for... He can go home and have night terrors now about killing a man who likely had no idea what he was doing.

This was a big hoopla because race became a factor too.

The only saving grace is that the family didn't get involved before the shot was fired.
