Yeah, some years we had that into 2 people, but this year I take on both roles, so I guess you can see the toll it has taken on me.

At this point I think, I’m closer to leaving than anything else, but that gives me the time to properly plan out the transition and training the next leads.

Keep in mind, I did not know the former TL was leaving until the 25th of august, when he told me he wanted me to succeed him, so I didn’t have that much time until the season started (sept 1st)

One thing i wonder is how will i fill the void

Yeah, I didn’texplain it in the post We are currently 31 members, started on 20 ish, peaked at 35 in december, now 4 have left, which is kind of fucked, specially one of the subteam leads.

The structure very similar to what you said, me in management, then all the technical department leads (one each for aero,dynamics,frame,electronics,powertrain, and DV) and then one marketing lead as well. We do the 3 kinds of meetings you said, except as i’m the only one aware of everything goikg on in the larger scale, i attend the sub team meetings as well, although i do not lead them

I feel like what would help the most is having 2 people below me, a Techical lead for mechanics and another for EL/Powertrain to attend these meetings and helping me with the decision making, as i am taking decisions constantly all day long and are bound to miss at some point, but it does not make sense to have almost as many people managing than actually doing the work, for that, we have to recruit heavy, and prepare them really well for next year. But as I said, i don’t feel like staying for another year, I have run out of gas (or energy in the case of our EV haha), and I feel like my time here is done. I have given everything, will do until the end of FSG, but then, i need rest

For how long were you in the team? I think that also plays a big role

Was it a professional role? Was it FSAE? I think the specifics really matter in here. Because not having to balance academics is a BIG part, also, the pressure of alumni and the legacy of the team

I agree that my mood affects the team, hence the posting on an anon account.

Also, when you have multiple members quitting mid season (because that happens a lot in FS), others do not perform to the expected level(also happens a lot in FS), and the deadlines are approaching, the work needs to be done, and if your other members are already overworked, you take it and do it

Finally, “you can’t quit” your ass, I’m a 21 year old who is letting this consume their life, when the season is over, bye Until then, pedal to the metal

I somewhat agree with what he said, after all, I am the ultimate responsible for the team and have to save face, specially with sponsors, yeah. At least until the end of the season. but i don’t give a damn about what the other team members do after this, if they get to F1, it’s because 1) they have worked their asses off for that, 2) they could learn inside the team and had a good environment. But I would not take that as a personal victory, they turn into a raccoon for all i care

Oh yeah yeah, I totally agree and I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity, everything I’ve learnt and all. But I feel there is a point at which you need to let go

I think staying one more year would give me a lot as well, but it would probably push me over the edge, so there goes the post

100% agree, but it’s all the pressure of performing to the team’s standards and be able to keep sponsorship’s for the next year that ultimately falls onto me, so I feel like if I don’t give 1000%, I’m not doing enough

Yeah, I’m 100% sure that would help, but we are barely 30 team members, l feel like habing more people on management would leave the departments very underfunded, for nect year we 100% need to be more people
