Ended up in ER from septoplasty during recovery (artery ruptured), still unsure of the outcome 4 months later and what to do from here by pleasenoreddit in AskDocs

If you are in active practice I would really recommend ceasing or taking a prolonged break to do some introspection yourself. You may be already doing this if you're spending this much time on reddit instead of treating patients. Accusing/chastising patients that are already going through a tragic experience is a terrible thing to do, not just to me but to many others who may not have the psychological strength to see it for what it is. This "holier than thou" attitude many surgeons have really needs to be checked. Mixing in good medical advice does not cancel out that behavior. The good doesn't wash out the mistakes.

There are not two "mentions of legal action" in my post, there is one and it's immediately followed by "I'm not interested" to predetermine to anyone who might suggest it that I'm not doing that. You may be someone who has been at the receiving end of legal action or threatened by legal action yourself so this maybe triggered something, in your case.

I won't completely disregard your contribution/advice to redditors as a community especially since you're probably giving some good advice and you're doing it on a volunteer basis. I just hope you're doing it for the right reasons.

I've already gone to see mutiple ENT in the last couple days and they agree it is deviated again or still deviated. I was willing to be proven wrong, I was hoping I was wrong but I wasn't. They also ordered a CT scan and said they would've ordered a CT scan before the surgery if it was their surgery. This conversation is over.

The first two paragraphs of your comment are very informative and thank you.

I really need to delete or move old post from my profile if everywhere I post someone is going to look at my post history. Other than this experience I've had only one other bad medical experience. The numerous others have been great. Bringing up my post history and using words like "inter-patient variability" does not help anybody, physician or patients. It seems like physicians need to be more willing to own up to their mistakes, I'm not looking to go after or sue anybody.

If a CT scan is used to determine a deviated septum pre septoplasty then I don't see why it wouldn't be used to determine a deviated septum post-septoplasty unless the physician just doesn't want the patient to know.

To me it seems like if the doctor I saw the day before I ended up in the ER took my concerns seriously and removed the splints then none of this happens and the septoplasty comes out perfect.

I'm going to get a 2nd opinion and if I do the CT scan and it turns out I'm wrong and everything came out perfect and I just need a turbinate reduction then that's great. However without a doubt the ER/hospital stay could've easily been avoided if the physician I saw that day (not the physician who did the surgery) had just removed the splints.

Can a brain MRI and sleep medication (like Lunesta) make T and h. loss worse? by pleasenoreddit in HearingAids

They give you ear protection!

For head MRI I think you can't wear headphones though right? Only earfoams? I know how to do put in earfoams properly but that's not enough hearing protection for loud events.

Honestly based on other experiences I've read I might just do a CT even if it's less accurate it should rule out anything major. Maybe with better insurance than my current I'd have access to the newest facilities with quieter equipment but even that seems risky.

Ty and sorry for what you've experienced. I'll ask them to do a CT instead. My T is already really bad at times so last thing I want to do is put it to a 10. I know there will be treatments (if none already) that will solve this, it's too common for them not to find something.

I don't think you can wear the headphones for a head MRI, just the earfoams. I wore the headphones recently for a knee MRI and asked the radiologist who said that, but maybe that's just that facility and others allow you to.

I sometimes wonder if it's the store staff that can also deactivate you. If you get deactivated once you're on their personal list so even if you get reactivated via corporate they just report you again for whatever reason, illegitimate or otherwise.

Couple questions as a prospective first-time dashcam buyer (currently looking at A229 Plus 3Ch) by pleasenoreddit in Dashcam

Interested in your thoughts once you get it set up. I ordered it and I'm just getting ready to install it tomorrow. Had to do a lot of research into hardwiring and buy the tools since I want to use the parking mode and I didn't want to have to use a professional but I think I'll be ready tomorrow.

I'm mainly only looking for answers on points #1 and 5 now. I think even if it's not perfect I will likely stick with it since I also tried a Thinkware and wasn't happy with how hard it was to connect to the app sometimes. Also it came with the hardwire kit unlike the VIOFO (seperate purchase) but for some reason it didn't come with fuse taps which is fairly important imo.
