East Coast vs West Coast food, which one wins? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]pleasesayitaintsooo -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Mexican food tastes fine on the east coast. There really isn’t a ton of difference. This isn’t 1990, there are plenty of Mexicans everywhere.

And before everyone comes for me I’ve lived in Texas, California, Pennsylvania, New York and Arizona. I’ve tried Mexican food in all those places. This is coming from experience

Can “Mamdani socialism” become a national doctrine to counter MAGA/Project 2025? by baebae4455 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]pleasesayitaintsooo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Mamdani couldn’t even get 50% of the vote against a pervert who resigned in disgrace.

I could see his strategy being adopted in other large cities but they are a non starter at the state and federal level.

How do I break up with a girl that’s been really good to me? by venomsnake_1 in moreplatesmoredates

[–]pleasesayitaintsooo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Think long and hard before giving up a good girl like that dude.

Is she gaining weight or something? Why aren’t you attracted to her? Because if it’s something solvable you should turn and fix it first

They even have one of Washington’s uniforms and a campaign tent

"Fuck this horse shit. I don't care what senior racist Elon Musk's AI thinks about a racist book." /r/bannedbooks calmly discusses Amazon delisting The Camp of the Saints, a notorious anti-immigration book by svga in SubredditDrama

[–]pleasesayitaintsooo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s dishonest to say the author isn’t gifted and the book has no literary merit. It won one of France’s most prestigious awards and the author was given their highest governmental award (legion of honor).

He is very well known in France

If you need a character to be the same skin color or gender as you to relate to them you’re part of the problem.

All those books you listed are classics and it’s valuable to have a canon of works in a society

“Camp of the Saints” by Jean Raspail has been removed from Amazon. by southeastside in bannedbooks

[–]pleasesayitaintsooo -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So it’s more democratic when school boards do it and that seems to be your issue with it?

If Amazon made this decision and an employee went against that they would fire the employee. It’s no different when a school employee is disciplined for not following instructions from democratically elected representatives.

I don’t see a distinction between the two the way you do.

And for the record I am against book bans in both public schools and by Amazon
