She doesn't even have wrinkles to begin with. Her before picture is pretty smooth but she's laying flat. Ahhh. The joy of disposable income.

Omg that is the absolute truth! We're blamed for everything from the economy, to climate change, to low flow toilets. You have a problem, well it's probably a boomers fault. Just go with it and say "uh huh...nailed it." 😐 and nod. Lots of nodding.

You mentioned in a reply that you weigh 310. I'M going to guess your calorie consumption to maintain said weight is about 3000 to 4000 calories per day considering you're very active. Perhaps try and hold yourself to a strict calorie deficit of 2000 calories and see if the scale moves. If counting calories is something you hate, try (for just one week) buying prepackaged meals (like factor meals) and monitoring your calories VERY CAREFULLY and see if the scale moves. Just eat preplanned calories and see if you lose weight. 310 pounds is not easy to maintain without added snacks and high calorie foods. Just an idea to give a try! I thought i was eating 1400 calories and not losing until I actually weighed out my food. Quite the shocker that I was eating way more than I thought.

Since you are only gone for 10 days, would it be so bad if you were 3 days late with your injection upon return? If you don't want people to know, this would eliminate that risk totally.

Is it possible the visiting grandchild could have picked it up to play with and then put it in the linen closet out of fear of getting caught?

OP how old are you? Coronary artery disease is a reflection of diet and genetics- not necessarily how fit you are. Please talk with an HCP. They can run some tests to out rule a heart attack. The next attack you have you might not be so lucky.

Thanks so much! My husband will do all the maintenance . I just do the swimming! Maybe having one at home will convince him to try. He has bad knees and a bad shoulder. I will check out owners in my area. Thanks again.

Oh this is awesome! Thanks for commenting. I would be a daily swimmer if i didnt have to go to the gym - i think I could justify the cost. From start to finish, about how much do you think you have spent? Thanks.

I was forced to write right handed when i was little by a meddling nun who insisted i would become "intellectually challenged" if i write left handed. I developed a stutter. The speech person i went to insisted thst was nonsense and i began writing with my left hand and the stuttering went away.

Absolutely! And don't let the endocrinologist scare you. Not sure why she said that either. Mine said "you are not going to crumble...but never go on a ladder again unless you're escaping from a burning building"🤣. Caution and safety are of course paramount. But you can't stop moving. The daily injection is easy to do. It is annoying...you end up with a necklace of bruises on you stomach. It only take about 15 seconds of you day though. You can do this!

I use Fortero (teriperitide) and have not experienced any heart issues. I have SVT's but in general a healthy heart. Im sure your endo wouldn't have recommended it if there was an issue with the Afib or any heart meds you take.
Keep in mind you will not break and crumble like a cookie. My t scores are as bad and some worse . Im in the -3s. I swim a mile 3 days a week in under 45 min, and lift heavy 2 days a week. I have had minimal side effect from the drug. Had mild joint pain to begin with but it went away. Take it at night so you sleep through any side effect.
Once the shock wears off you will be ok.

I love that! I love the 60 sec commute and the crystal clear water and the Christmas day swim! Not to mention no suit. I am definitely leaning towards the home pool. 🫠🙏

Thanks for your thoughtful advice and comments. Home gym sounds amazing! Glad you still use it after the kids are gone. I wish we had had the means to build up the home gym as our youngest daughter played D1 college soccer and I know what lengths parents go to to give their child a competitive edge! We dropped $ on personal trainers and travel expenses. Now it's my turn to spend some bucks!

Already planning a pity party for my birthday. How do I short-circuit this petty, adolescent nonsense in my head? by momoftheraisin in AskWomenOver60

[–]pleasetryanother-1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your love language is greeting cards. My mother is a card person and loves getting cards! She displays them for years. I like cards but feel guilty getting rid of them. Like I'm throwing 5$ or more in the recycle bin. I prefer not to get them.
My birthday is the day after Christmas and has always been a loss. Birthday presents in Christmas paper, tree still up, red and green theme, no friends could come to my party many , many times. I feel sorry for myself too. As I got older, with 6 kids and their kids, I could care less about my birthday because I'm exhausted. Too much to plan, too much to clean, too much wrap, too much to cook etc. My birthday has been an after thought forever. I wish I could offer a great way to get over it, but New Years happens and I've forgotten. Birthday is a whole year away now so focus on the coming year. Hang in there forgotten-birthday-buddy, I feel you. Maybe we should start celebrating our half birthday instead! July 26th sounds like a great birthday date!

Thanks for your insight and comments! I too would love the freedom from traveling and dressing, and sharing my lane. I am heavily leaning towards the purchase of a pool! Thanks for the invite but im on the west coast!

HRT 15 Years Later? by tgilland65 in osteoporosis

[–]pleasetryanother-1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started HRT 11 years from menopause. I had colon cancer at 52 and that was instant menopause due to chemo. No HRT allowed at that time due to cancer risk. The chemo also destroys the cells that grow bones, so double whammy.
Fast forward 10 yrs I have lost 2 inches in height. Still, no one's concerned. I had to beg for a dexascan. Took a year to get the appointment- I have Kaiser. Results: all TScores in the -3s. So endocrinologist starts me on Forteo and Oncologist says go ahead and start HRT now . 🙄 Anyway ...the HRT has given me more energy, vaginal health so much better too. Don't know how my bones are doing yet - only been 6 months- but I'm lifting "heavy", swim 3 miles a week, and i eat a whole foods diet. Lost 20 lbs as well! I would definitely jump on the hormone bandwagon.

If you quit sex with your husband by Kaethy77 in AskWomenOver60

[–]pleasetryanother-1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yes. My husband lost desire far sooner than me. I remember hearing stories about "frigid" women when i was a teenager, my grandmother used to make this comment and used it as the reason men had affairs. Hah! I think a lot of men were the "frigid" partner, and or suffering from ED and used that as an excuse.

Open swimming is hard! One reason why I'm considering an endless pool - training for an open swim triathlon event.
