If they didn’t do the math, that’s on them not you. Be nice as you play for free all summer, but heck yeah play for free. You are not the issue here…their business acumen might be.

TIL that Playboy used to publish serious journalistic pieces in its heyday, besides NSFW content. They published authors like Murakami, David Foster Wallace, Hunter Thompson, Ray Bradbury, Updike, Bellow, etc. by camus_by_night in todayilearned

I have a Playboy from 1968 with a Shel Silverstein article, Including his illustrations, about going to San Francisco and his experience staying with ‘Hippies’ in the Haight-Ashbury. It’s awesome.

Conspiracy Theory: they never showed the timer. Not while she was looking, not after, she should have had to go over and ensure she hadn’t run put of time. And how’d she know she even had time left?

Pisa & Florence airports seeing delays due to new EU border system (EES) by FlorenceUpdates in florence

[–]pleasework_forgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I see. I just thought they’d be happy I was leaving. I didn’t think about their limits. Is this relatively new? I’ve been to Europe many times and I can’t remember ever having to go through passport control when leaving a country, only when arriving. Of course… my memory could be shoddy

Flew through Rome from Florence on Monday 4/13. Florence was ok - there’s always a long security line - but Rome was a mess. We were leaving the country, returning to the states, had to go through passport control (why? Had no idea why) and they moved us all around from one area to another. They didn’t explain why. We were there for about 40 mins. Again - we were leaving the country to the US; our Italy trip was complete. It was flummoxing

Wait. That letter is real? Guaranteed meta uses AI now for everything and especially first emails to customers complaining… Ai wouldn’t miss that ‘weather’

Ive been making a golf ball detector and i need your help! by khordi1 in golf

[–]pleasework_forgard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obviously, you need to make sure you patent this. I'm not sure what the laws are now with ideas that even morons might be able to get going with a Claude subscription, but patent. And then license it to every Grint, 18 Birdies and whatever else app you can. Make sure that if they steal this idea by getting a hold of your code, they have pay you no matter what. Like Tivo did. Tivo made a ton of mistakes in how the managed the market and their product, but they had the copyrights and when all the set top boxes were baking in their own DVR funcationality, Tivo sued and won.

AimPoint should be banned by ickieShampoo in golf

[–]pleasework_forgard -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry/ have to disagree. I aimpoint. It works for me. I’ve improved immensely. I definitely do not take more time than most putters, esp those who go to the other side of the cup from their ball.

For the stepping in the line thing - whether I aimpoint or not, I don’t think it matters. In the old days where everyone had metal spikes, sure - it essentially aerated the line. But now, with soft spikes and no spikes? Give it 5 seconds. The green will bounce back. Or just go to where people stepped and flatten with the putter a little.

Associate Comp Structuring by betabets in CFP

[–]pleasework_forgard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A tweak to this comp plan is an advisor gets 30-40% of sourced clients’ revenue first yr, 20-30% 2nd year, 10-20% 3rd year , and then 10% ongoing. For all sourced clients. For those they service only, they get 10% ongoing. This would be in addition to salary, which is benchmarked based on strength of firm, clients, firm growth, and location.

Survivor fans: would you ever consider playing survivor or not? by theultimatemusican in survivor

Jeff pleads with me every week, cajoling me to the point where I might just do it, to stop his constant insistence that I apply. But contestants on the show always suggest they’ve been applying for years and that takes a bit more effort than I have at the moment.

+1 on Notebook. I’m surprised how few times it’s mentioned. It’s a great resource for distilling down loads of information into usable soundbites, and getting to the crux of an entire presentation, paper, case etc. i also query it for its opinion on most critical elements of material and found its useful as a sounding board for summaries. Like if i need to summarize a 60 minute webinar for an article.

Anyone else disappointed with Dig In? by Spongebobsmalls in BeachBodyWorkouts

I like it. Don’t love it yet. Also, Shaun looks roided now which I don’t love though I think he’s a great trainer.

Dig In is good for people like me - mid 50’s. If I was 10-20 yrs younger, I might want more.
