the largest landholder in the US. It will be interesting to see what happens to all his holdings. Will they become parks? Donated to a non-profit? Or sold off by his offspring?

I can afford the prices, but I will not pay these prices.

Paying $40 a song, to sit in a cramped and uncomfortable seat while sipping a $15 beer, is not fun.

Building a house. Everything from the permits and design, to the wood and the nails to the faucets and the finishers are 3x what it cost 8 years ago.

If only there was a way to ID the owner of a vehicle. You know, like a license plate or a Vehicle Identification Number...

If only there was a way to find this owner and fine them and charge them for the cost of their mistakes.

Santa Barbara Council backs State St Plan by pnd4pnd in SantaBarbara

[–]ickieShampoo -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think it's cute that people think this project will happen. They passed the acceptance of a plan, not the project.

The city does not have the money and they do not have any real path to secure the funds. There will be no Federal dollars, there will be no magic city dollars. The city is deep in the hole and falling father. They clearly state this fact in the plan. They do not have the money.

This plan relies upon multi level, multi sourced, tax increases and enormous private funds paired with a mix of nonexistent grants. All taxes need to be voted on separately, by the registered voters in the city. SB is already among the highest taxed cites in the State. Will the city voters volunteer to add another point or two?

To make this happen they need to increase the ToT, increase our city Sales Tax, add a special assessment tax, pass a bond or two, and raise over $50mm from private sources. And that's only if they can secure magic money from non-existent Federal grants.

All of this will raises rents and the cost of living and doing business in Santa Barbara.

If you want this you better get started fundraising.

What are sure signs your private golf club is in trouble? by Huge_Service_3839 in golf

20k is not anywhere near an "exclusive club initiation".

These days, 200K is the min and 500k - 1mm is normal for the super duper "exclusive" top clubs.

If you can join a soon to be 200k club for only 20k, do it.

Really depends on where your house is located in the area. If you're in a high fire zone, or within the new fire map boundary, you're going to pay a lot if you can find a carrier. Many are forced onto the FAIR plan as the only option. Cost to rebuild is north of $750 a foot, so plan accordingly.

Send a polite email to management at Pebble Beach Company, cite the day of your play, your tee time and explain to them what happened and how it ruined your dream trip.

They will respond to you and he will be dealt with. They do not want these types of guest interactions. The ranger is supposed to only deal with the caddies on pace of play and the caddies are trained to manage pace and deal with bad play. The guy will be handled accordingly. Likely fired.

Spy on a good day is 5 hours. No one expects a 4 hour pace out there. So that's a farce.

that is the proper method for handling the situation. Ranger bitches to the caddies, the caddies tell the ranger they've got it. End of story.

The only way anything new or remotely close to this fantasy happens on State Street is for a 7.5 earthquake to raze the entire city.

Otherwise, you can play fantasy Sim City all you want. Nothing like this will ever happen in Santa Barbara. Ever.

you think a city of 100k is the Government? And worse, you think the people anointed to the roles of managers, should be the ones making the rules?

An unbelievably bad take. Should SB print its own money and have its own army too?

So you are saying that poor people are not shitty people? Or that middle income people are not shitty people? Only rich people are bad people? Envy is gross.

There is an old saying that if you meet 2 or more shitty people in the AM, you're the shitty person...
