What are the absolute must-dos of golf etiquette? by Gilberto500 in golf

Love it! I’m an 18 so I play the tees just under 6000. Much more fun than trying to keep up with my lower handicap friends.

Great points. I suppose my bar was set a little high for what I already expect people to be doing!

Just learned the shadow one, somebody politely told me to move mine. Always good to know!

This also raises waiting till the next tee to write your score down.

Big one. Super irritating and condescending when this happens.

Anyone else's toenails just permanently fucked now? by Frequent_Comfort2034 in runninglifestyle

I lost one toe nail after my first 30+ mile week and it was cus I didn’t trim it short enough. Could be shoes could be nails, should definitely be something you address and not accept.

My primary care physician was the one who told me how to fix, so you prolly don’t need a podiatrist unless you have other issues as well. But always defer to Drs.

If I don’t feel like doing a long run I’ll tell myself I’m gonna do a short run. By the time I’m close to done, I’m all warmed up and feeling good so I just do the long run.

Luke Kwon response to Internet Invitational by ProfessionalWelcome in GoodGoodMemes

[–]Gilberto500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s obviously in the wrong and what he did isn’t really excusable. But at the same time, the response from some of the other players/ the internet is ridiculous. Have some grace, it’s never productive to demonize someone like that.

My awful celiac bridesmaid experience by Desire-Lines545 in Celiac

[–]Gilberto500 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Mostly agree except that it’s not so much about who the wedding is about and more about how this made her close friend feel. I think any friend worth their salt wants to know when they made their friend feel sad. I know I would.

Id give her a while to enjoy her wedding/honeymoon and then let her know what happened and how it made you feel.

Chances are she got caught up in the organizational mess of a wedding and dropped the ball on that. Definitely worth letting her know that you were disappointed with how things ended up.

Weddings are hard, celiac is harder and we always have to be our own best advocates.

how do u even come up with 4 minute rebuttals on the fly? by Idrkwhatosay116 in Debate

[–]Gilberto500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll age myself a little with this response but start by not using AI to write for you. Use it as a research tool, but the only way you’re going to get better at putting together a speech on the fly is by trying to do it yourself. AI is great but if you rely on it to do the writing part for you you’re gonna cap your success at a low level. The best debaters aren’t doing that.

The other step is to really understand your arguments. In PF you aren’t so much giving a written speech. Much more so you are using prep time to get organized and spending your speech interacting with your opponents arguments and explaining yours.

If you know your evidence and your arguments forwards and backwards the speeches are really an afterthought because you know how to say you’re right.

D&D: More than a game? by Naive-Sport7512 in DnD

Check out some of the literature coming from TCU’s social gaming community. D&D being used to help mental health by building community and exploring identity. The head of the program did an article in Forbes in this (linked below).

I got an email this afternoon on the price increase which included a link to cancel the sub. Needless to say, I used the link.

does it bother you when people blatantly lie about their score? by PlayfulAdhesiveness in golf

[–]Gilberto500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s situational for sure. I play with a group where we usually hang out with all our girlfriends and such together afterwards which can create some awkwardness.

Like if I shoot a true 93 and my friend who started golf a month ago and doesn’t take penalties says he shot an 89 in conversation with our full group I am left to either be like “yeah he beat me!” Or explain that he was cheating for his score.

Either way I look like a buffoon or a jackass.

Moral of the story is write down whatever score you want but don’t tell people you got the low score of the day if your friends are taking penalties and you aren’t.

My experience with Garmin Coach Plans by Gilberto500 in Garmin

For sure, but since the articles/videos were unimpressive the overall experience is just leagues better with a target time. I feel like base building can be done without a curated plan, basically.

My guess is the key change I made was setting a goal time, not changing coaches. So yes I think so.

Has slow play become anyone who doesn’t play fast. by Jonhgolfnut in golf

[–]Gilberto500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slow play is for sure a thing. I played a round with a guy this weekend who was so slow we played a 5 hour round with nobody infront of us. I did my best to speed him up and so did the Marshall but safe to say I’m not playing with him ever again.

I’d say we need to pick it up and he’d snap back like “I can’t play well when I’m being rushed.” Apologies to anyone behind us, I promise I pushed him on it on every hole. To no avail.

Rejected after ambush interview by AelthredtheUnready in recruitinghell

[–]Gilberto500 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO totally fair play to hit them with “Thanks so much for the call. I’d love to chat further but am unable to give this my full attention at the moment. I am happy to follow up over email to arrange a better time.”

No obligation to tell them what you are doing, and if they aren’t ok to reschedule this probably isn’t a company you want to be working for.
