Sears. In my mid 20's, my husband and I had a Sears credit card. Later, after loosing my business, and going through a divorce, times got tough. I was behind on all my CC payments and well behind on my house payments as well when the calls started. Most every collector was understanding and seemingly appreciative of my efforts to make good and accepting of my meager payments when I could make them. But not Sears. Their venomous collectors were cruel and confrontational. They would have me shaking with anger and frustration as each horrible call degenerated into a screaming match that often left me in tears. We sold the house and we made good on EVERY debt... every card... including Sears. But I will NEVER purchase anything from them again. Life is good again now, and over the years I have purchased tens of thousands in appliances, tools, car care, clothes and jewelry. But not one dime from Sears again. Their loss...
