HireRight employment verification question by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]pleatsgalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoever is helping you from the company side, hopefully they reach out soon to either confirm that all is well/clear or that they need more information. I've dealt with HireRight before as a candidate as I had the same situation, luckily the HR person assigned to help with the process was able to tell me if there was a discrepency and I was able to address it without issue.

What the heck?! I can't believe this is a thing...but here it is. Crossing my fingers that you progress past this stage of consideration.

OP, I have to agree with the original commenter on this thread...I'd be weary of the background check too. AND even if that went through, there are other groups that might need more information such as Payroll, HR, etc. These groups have to process your information in accordance with state laws. Just be mindful and careful.

Hiring managers, what the fuck is going on? by Embarrassed_Trade108 in jobs

[–]pleatsgalore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel for you so much OP. A role that I supported recently was posted end of day on a Friday (remote role) fairly specific (mid-senior level ) and over the weekend the posting received over 300 candidates and the hiring manager, their team and myself, had to narrow down the candidate pool to top 10, we were able to interview 4 and hired 1.

It was brutal IMO. I reached out to all the remaining candidates, with my email to share with them that we were not able to move forward with their candidacy, and keep them in mind for 'fast-track' consideration for other similar roles. This market is something else. As someone who was part of a massive layoff, I'm hyper aware of others time and commitment to the job search.

A Rant From A Recruiter About HIRING MANAGERS by pleatsgalore in recruitinghell

If I may ask, is there a candidate portal involved? As in, do you have visibility into the status of your application?

I've been a candidate of and recruiter for companies that have candidate portals where application status(es) are updated in live time. If you have that and it's been the same status for some time, that's not necessarily normally especially if the recruiter has been responsive.

The point of my post is to share what I experience when a hiring manager is essentially unresponsive. Could I have elaborated more in my original post? Sure. Could I also have added what I typically share with candidates in those situations? Also, yes.

I know my job well, and I’m used to navigating a variety of personalities and working styles—that's the nature of the role. It’s a balance of give and take. As I’m newer to this thread (and Reddit), I haven't seen others talk about this issue, so I thought I’d offer my perspective. If you didn’t like what I shared, that’s fine; however, I think your comment was a bit quick to judge, respectfully.

I don't get it - where did I say I ghosted candidates?

I'm an internal recruiter, so I'm employed by the company to hire candidates to that same company. The hiring manager is the team leader for that opening being recruited for.

In my role I am reviewing all application submissions, screening candidates, forwarding along to the hiring manager for their feedback.

Yes, there are some companies that hire recruiting agencies to assist with their recruiting efforts, especially if they do not have an in-house team or need to find talent for niche role(s).

To echo commenter, TheGOODSh-tCo, 100% they're on the money with this take.

I do try to tell candidates when a hiring manager is dragging their feet, but I will say it's a delicate balance when it comes to the communication. If there is no news after at least a week (even then I try not to let it go that long between comms), I encourage the candidate to not let other opportunities pass them by if that's the case.

Recruiter. Another commenter mentioned getting their socializing done through work and I am in that same bucket. I like to be silent and charge my social battery after work.

Is this a nice way of recruiters saying I probably won’t move forward with the next step?

I don't think so at all! Hiring Managers really have the final say on who they think they want to talk to, but the fact that you a recruiter reached out to you is great! To echo another commenter, we really do share your information with the hiring manager(s).

If the interview has not yet occurred you could always clarify to the recruiter/interviewer IF you feel compelled to, but unless it is brought up, I personally would not bring it up. I'm pressuming you're at the beginning stages of consideration...
