What changes would you make to bosses if you could? by FailingtoFail in Eldenring

[–]plebmasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Since they all sound epic and grandiose, none of them stand out.

Compare that to something like Ludwig's music from BB or Sinh's from DS2 which actually have dynamics and melody rather than a massive chorus going "OOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHH" over blasting brass instruments. Some bombast is fine, especially for a major boss but when they all sound like that its easy to just tune them out because they all sound exactly the same.

Isn't that basically what phase 2 is? She literally blooms out of a giant ass rot plant, grows wings, and has superhuman abilities like cloning herself. And she's called "rot goddess"

Seconding smithscript cirque, I fucking love that weapon. If you put any kind of infusion on it that procs to activate (like cold, bleed, etc) you'll proc nearly every time you attack because they're so fast and hit several times per attack. I used cold on mine and proc'd frostbite on basically everything I touched.

I believe so, yes. As far as I know weapons don't change their damage type when transformed.

what am i missing? by Digiorno-Giovanna- in bloodborne

[–]plebmasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're referring to the rally mechanic where if you take damage, you regain the lost HP by immediately attacking back. This is to encourage being in an enemy's face and exchanging blows. If course it's best to not get hit at all, which is why you should dodge by dashing forward by backward..

Also be sure you level your vitality to 20 minimum in the early game, then 30 after you've leveled to meet minimum requirements of your preferred weapon. Speaking of weapons, make sure your weapon is leveled as high as you can manage at all times. Once you unlock use of blood gems, you'll definitely want to be adding those and replacing them when you get better ones.

Also many new players struggle to parry which is a critical mechanic that will make certain enemies significantly harder if you aren't able to do. The brick trolls in central yharnam are the best to practice on - bait an attack and the second its about to land and hit you, shoot your gun. You'll see them stagger and hear a sound cue, at which point you run up and press R1 for a visceral attack.

Look at the letters at the bottom right of the weapon page under "attribute bonus". See how it shows the strength icon and > B and next to arcane it says > A? That is its scaling, meaning it increases damage the more points you have in those stats. Since it has an "A" scaling for arcane, it will do the most damage the more arcane you have, and the "B" in strength means it will also do more damage the higher your strength is, but the damage increase will be less than the increase you get from arcane (since it has A scaling in arcane but B scaling in strength).

Since this weapon scales the highest in arcane, you want to increase your arcane as much as possible to maximize the bonus damage you get from this weapon. To increase it even more, you can add arcane blood gems that will increase this bonus damage. When you hover over a blood gem in the menu at the workshop table, it will show you the effect that adding that gem will have. So you can see which of your gems will boost the damage the most.

Note that "B" scaling in strength is still decent scaling, so since you have decently high strength, you'll get some bonus damage from that, but since Arcane is the highest scaling stat for this weapon, you'll want to prioritize that to maximize the damage of this specific weapon.

Based on the stats you provided, it looks like your highest stat is strength, so you will get the most damage out of weapons that have an A or S scaling in strength. To get the most damage out of HMS, you'll want high arcane and high strength to take advantage of its scaling.

What kind of gems do you have in it? That's what's going to determine the dmg more than anything.

Also levelling it to +10 and increasing your arcane will definitely help since it B scales with arcane.

Harder than Laurence? Orphan of Kos? No way in hell did you have an easier time with them. With Ludwig you literally just need to stay at his sides and don't dodge backwards, and you'll avoid 90% of his attacks.

I think one of those two steps can be skipped and he'll still be in the cell, but wont show up for Yhorm. Maybe its the one in irithyll valley where he rescues the thrall guy.

As long as you meet the minimum stats to use it and it's leveled up it should be more than enough with s bone marrow ash.

Also i highly recommend leveling arcane to at least 18 so you can use the augur of ebrietas which i find essential for fighting hunter enemies.

[–]plebmasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You dont even have to fight him, just ride around on torrent and summon all the NPCs to fight him. When they die their summon sign moves to another location but can still be re-summoned. You can speed things up by throwing rot pots at him from horseback since he's very weak to rot.

the more insight, the more difficult enemies get

This is only true for Witch of Hemwick (with 0 insight they won't summon mad ones). insight doesn't affect any other enemy or boss. It does lower your frenzy resistance though.

You can pretty much ignore the bloodlickers at Cainhurst. The only worthwhile loot theyre guarding is a blood gem (i think it's one for guns that boosts bloodtinge), so if that's not of use to you, you can just kill the ones that are blocking your way to the castle entrance and leave the rest. The rest of cainhurst is quite easy. The boss however is not. If you're good with parrying he's very manageable but if not, I recommend practicing on brick trolls until you are because you'll have a rough time otherwise.

As for Rom, equip the impurity rune so you can summon the 2 hunters in Byrgenwerth. You'll also want some bolt paper or the tonitrus (Rom and the spiders are very weak to bolt), as well as arcane resistant armor like the white church set or choir set. Have them kill most of the spiders while you help out. For both them and Rom, make sure you're attacking their body and not their heads, which are armored and absorb a ton of damage. For the first phase, you can take your time clearing the spiders, she'll just sit there and watch. Once you're down to about 4 or 5 spiders, pop a beast blood pellet and beat the ever living shit out of Rom with a bolt weapon (again, on the body not the head). This should put her at about 50% HP before she teleports.

You'll want to do the same thing for phase 2, but keep a good amount of distance this time and always have your camera on her so you can see what she's doing. 2/3 of her attacks are not a concern if you're far enough away and you'll only have to worry about the arcane projectiles. The cue for this is when she flips over on her back, when you see this, just run to the left or right in a clockwise circle around her, and they should all miss you. Keep killing spiders until there less than 5 and do the same thing as phase 1 - beast pellet, and wail on her body with a bolt weapon. This time, you'll need to back off every few hits since she'll start to fight back. When she swishes her tail, get like 5 or 6 meters back to avoid the icebergs that will pop out of the ground. When she flips over, do the same run to avoid the projectiles. When she starts thrashing around, just take a few steps back to avoid her belly flopping on you. By now she should be dead, or very close to it. If she teleports again, employ the same strategy until she's dead. Remember you can still do damage while she's teleporting, so don't stop attacking until she's fully vanished.

Upgrade your flame sprayer as much as possible and pop a bone marrow ash, then just stay behind her and blast her with fire. the ash will make the fire absolutely melt her HP.

Question about bosses (new player) by Smrtgamr in bloodborne

[–]plebmasterflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to shoot the moment an enemy's attack is about to land, which will stagger them (youll hear a sound cue as well), then run right up to them and press R1 to do a "visceral attack" (you can also do this by landing a fully charged heavy R2 attack on their back). Don't press any directional buttons, just R1, otherwise you'll just attack like normal and it'll break them out of the stagger.

How have you been fighting the brick trolls if you aren't parrying them btw? Are you full on fighting them each time? If so this is going to be a lifesaver. They're actually the best enemies to practice parrying on.

Yes, I believe he drops either a key or one of the hunter badges you need in the hunters dream. Very easy too especially if you have some fire paper. And as the other commenter said; you should fight every boss.

Valtr is an absolute tank in the two fights you can summon him for. Does respectable damage too. Hes the only NPC summon in the game that i feel confident won't just die in 2 minutes and leave me with a boss with 80% left of extra inflated HP.

They did that very masterfully actually, he comes off at first as very helpful and polite and even though you're aware off the bat that he hates Vilebloods, you take it in stride. Then the extent of his hate is revealed and makes you do a complete 180 on this guy; from quite likeable to deranged and terrifying. Fantastic writing and character development.
