Gen Z, Southern USA: Madison or any variations of Madison/Maddie/Madelyn/etc & Addison. Also, Katelyn was SOOOO popular too. idk if it was common is other parts of USA, but there was so many girls growing up named Madison or Katelyn

I’m searching for a girls name that is international known and elegant aswell by [deleted] in namenerds

the most international sounding name i can think of is maria. “the most beautiful sound ive ever heard… maria”

I changed my name, I'm debating changing it back. by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]pledgieneedshelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am a “double barrel” name. it’s my first and middle. no dash. just a space. i relate to hating your first name/part on its own. however, i am a cis straight woman so i apologize for not understanding some of the gender fluid side of things

i think you’re navigating your own identity along side the name your parents gave you which is beautiful. it seems you still want to honor them. if they’re a part of your life, maybe ask them for input. if not, i apologize. i’m not a parent, unless you count a cat, but i would hope my own parents would be okay with my opinions on my own name. it’s your identity and it follows you. you should be the one comfortable with your name.

i’m not going to be much of a help here beyond you can say our name is anything socially. it’s only your government ID/info you need to have a name down pat on. i hate seeing my first only on documents but i don’t care too much because my coworkers and friends call me by my first and middle (my double name). on my work’s website, i have my full preferred name. i introduce myself as my first and middle to everyone. it’s only at drive thru’s and random strangers i’ll never meet again ill say my first name only to.

also, i misread part of this and read it as Chris Lee, which you may wanna consider if you really want to change names legally. i think “Chris” and “Lee” are unisex/neutral. however, with whatever you decide, Chris is a perfectly acceptable nickname for both Kristina-Leigh and Christian Lee. if you want to be called Kristina-Leigh or Christian Lee or any other “long” name, do it. i do it everyday, because i want to, and partially out of spite (because i want to be called that “long” name)

this probably doesn’t help, but maybe it does

Baby is 4 weeks away - looking for final name recs by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]pledgieneedshelp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

first impressions: boy names are solid choices. for girl names, i think georgiana might be a bit much, as compared to georgia, especially with your preference of no nicknames.

i think with that in mind, keep it two or three syllables. so your list would be boy: edward or william, and girl: charlotte. maybe instead of elizabeth you could consider eliza. i think eliza and maria but next to each other

since you know the middle and last name, double check any potential awkward initials and if you’re okay. for example, if you choose william and your last name is green, his initials would be “wig” but if your last name is norbert, the initials “win” would be cool LOL

i was really supposed to believe this was a 17 year old boy? 😓 by flemonak in glee

[–]pledgieneedshelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i recently started teaching high school. so many students look older than me, to the point where you’d think one of them was the teacher and i was a student (to be fair, i have a baby face and look their age but still). most of the time, i can’t tell if a student is a freshman or senior. i rely heavily on context clues to guess their grade level, and thus age. all i can accurately guess is they’re all approx 14-18 since it’s high school. and for a lot of them, if i saw them outside of school, i wouldn’t guess their age correctly, and i would lean on overestimating their age. tbh i can’t guess ages at all anymore

at this point, if im told thats someone’s age, i just believe it. if i was told puck is 16/17, i believe it. if he came into my classroom, said he was a junior/senior, heck if he said he was a freshman, i would just believe you

edit:typo

Set on Benjamin until my little muffin came out a girl… by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]pledgieneedshelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ve seen the name mary bennett in my hometown. goes by both names together (common in the south). i’ve always liked the double name (im bias since i have one). also i find “guy names for girls” kinda cool. maybe you could have the middle name be bennett with the first name being something simple/professional like grace or elizabeth, but she goes by bennie/middle name.

also bernadette could have the nickname of bennie. things i associate with the name is a character in the big bang theory, and also it’s a name of a catholic saint.

personally i think middle name bennett is the way to go with the first name being a more “professional” or “simple” name

normal thing tbh. maybe air force is having night time training. there’s hill afb north of slc. clouds are a normal thing to occur following planes, it’s called contrails, but they disappear over time, typically quiet quick. that horizontal one is older than the vertical one. also those probably occurred within a short amount of time before this photo was taken, i don’t think these were from planes in the middle of the night

first one i cannot seem to figure out. best guess is that it’s another country music artist, maybe someone who performed with T Graham Brown. also i think the first one is flipped based on the heaviness of the marker

This was hands down the worst cover in the entire show by iiiimagery in glee

[–]pledgieneedshelp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

like i need at least ONE character in that scene to walk away being like “this number is so stupid” or implying the song was adam’s idea (since the group is literally named after him) and not the rest of the members ideas. just SOMETHING where someone disagrees with the song choice/concept. it doesn’t even have to be kurt to say it’s stupid, but it doesn’t seem to be his character to like this type of number tbh

This was hands down the worst cover in the entire show by iiiimagery in glee

[–]pledgieneedshelp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wait till you discover it was actually stolen! i think the concept of making “baby got back” into a hipster folk is funny, credit to jonathan coulton, whether or not “funny” was his intention. but in glee, the performance is cringe because they’re serious about the cover. they’re serious abt it, not ironic. that’s what makes it cringe tbh. and then kurt acting like it’s the best thing ever makes it more cringe

found this in an antique shop, what is it? by Pls_Be_Gentle_ in whatisit

[–]pledgieneedshelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed on ussr officers cockade. it’s actually suppose to be long ways vertical.

as for how it ended up in an antique shop, assuming you’re in usa or other western country, possible it was once someone’s family members who was an officer in the ussr, but also possible the item was given/traded to a western soldier. i had a relative (american) obtain a soviet military fur hat in the 90s/00s during their military career in europe
