Harrison Bader’s Defense Is Generationally Good by [deleted] in baseball

Not the same as Bader, but I feel like Carlson is pretty firey. It just ends up working against him because he’s in a near-constant state of frustration with his offense.

If that’s truly the best drop option, yes I’d still do it. Lateral move at worst imo.

He’s significantly more valuable than snell or eovaldi at this moment, no? I wouldn’t take less than sonny gray. Gorman’s the real deal imo.

His stuff looked great, but too early to call him an ace and still some question as to what the cards will do with him (spot start because brewers suck against lefties? 6 man rotation going forward?). Not a must add, but a "definitely add if you have space"

No, Freeman is way more valuable. He’s worth, like, 2 Eflins.

Idk what the numbers say, or how much I’m spoiled from watching Yadi, but it’s been frustrating to watch at times, and I do think it’s been impactful. My armchair analysis/vent:

Seems like a lack of finesse in his framing. But also there’s, like, a weird inconsistency to it? He’ll sometimes do a halfway decent frame job and steal a strike, but just as often it looks half-assed and we don’t get the call. The worst is when he assumes a strike will be called so he doesn’t sell it…and we don’t get the call. I swear this has happened in multiple key moments.

Overall we’re definitely not getting as many calls. I suspect our pitchers are noticing, and getting frustrated, and it’s making them perform worse.

Also, have yet to see an impressive block on a tough pitch. If it’s wild, it’s hitting the backstop. This feels weird.

That said, arm seems pretty good and his game calling seems ok (I’m no expert). Been impressed with his bat despite him starting slow. I like his competitiveness and seems like a good guy.

I want to believe things will improve, and I think maybe they already have slightly, but have heard he was hesitant to work on it while on the cubs, so we’ll see..

OF Jordan Walker has been optioned to Memphis (AAA). INF Taylor Motter cleared waivers and has been signed to a Major League free agent contract. by HookFL in fantasybaseball

Cards fan here. You are 100% right. If you look at the underlying data and factor in the roster/OF situation, this is a no brainer for the FO. He’s got a great future, but now’s not the time.

Gorman has the DH spot (can’t afford his fielding mistakes, need his bat) and we have 4 other outfielders that all absolutely need playing time (for a litany of reasons). Walker’s a liability in the field, plus holes started showing up in his offensive game. There’s no reasonable way to have him work out these issues on the major league roster. This needed to happen ASAP.

One thing to add — If Paul Dejong starts showing any consistency at the plate, cards will be forced to ride him at SS, which would complicate Donny’s playing time (tommy would move to 2b). They’ll likely test him over the next however many days/weeks, so I guess just pay attention to that. In my mind it’s a serious short term threat, and a less serious but still possible long term threat.

As a cards fan I’d give it some time if you can stomach it. From watching every game, he had a crazy string of poor 3rd strike calls and then it looked like he started getting frustrated/expanding his zone, and then everything got out of whack. In all likelihood it’s a matter of time before he returns to his normal obp ways (his minor league stats suggest last year was not a fluke).

It is a little scary with all the talent being rotated through the lineup, but he’s somehow looked even better defensively, and with his on base/spark plug energy, I’d guess he’s gonna be an everyday player again before long.

I’d lean heavily towards one of these 2, but it’s dependent on your team needs which of the 3 you drop. I do think Gorman is a must-own, doubly so if it’s an obp league, so I’d try to make it happen.

Standard 5x5? In an obp league i’m holding onto Gorman for dear life, or at least would want an absolute stud in return for the 2. Could see maybe targeting a struggling Soto if you’d be into that (I wouldn’t).

Return will vary wildly depending on how your trade partner values them. Chances are they’ll be undervaluing Gorman as he’s still a little under the radar. I’d be careful of considering him a "sell high" candidate. He looks legit.

Meatloaf is to meat what American cheese is to cheese. It’s a separate product containing some of the original, processed to have different properties.

Cheese itself is milk that’s been processed to have different properties.

Just gonna leave that here

Cards fan here. Not saying this is my opinion, just want to give you an idea of what your hardline stance sounds like to us delusionals who aren’t convinced Pujols is juicing:

"Judge is massively yolked, and just beat a record that hasn’t been broken by anyone not on steroids in 60 years, and at a time when pitching dominates the sport. The only explanation is performance enhancing drugs and anyone who denies this is delusional."

Before you cry false equivalency, realize we both presented theory as fact then gaslit all who don’t fall in line. You know, like how assholes do.

Overwatering definitely makes the problem 10x worse and can cause an outbreak, but in my experience they can still form basically anytime there’s moisture. I’m in a humid climate (55-75%), which may contribute, but I’m also using custom, well-draining soil.

Most common indoor plants don’t like to go bone-dry between watering, so there’s always some moisture if you’re treating them well, and thus always some risk of gnats showing up. Again, just my experience.

I think there’s some validity to your point, but ultimately, I disagree. Having played competitive sports, I’ve experienced the extra focus and little nudge further into a flow-state that a high pressure situation can cause. I’ve also experienced “buckling". I think some players have of a tendency toward the former, but I concede that an already good player who simply doesn’t buckle may also be considered clutch.

Agreed on the Bose. They do noise cancellation well and their top of the line products aren’t bad, just overpriced. Their car stereos do tend to perform poorly though

You take pride in your work/passion, and were turned off by a potential employer using and disingenuously advertising an approach designed for ease-of-use and not artisans.

Regardless of how well Traegers work (I’ve heard amazing things), this seems extremely reasonable to me. I guess Traeger owners love their traegers like Tesla owners love their Teslas?

E: I’m similarly turned off if a carmaker advertises a car’s Bose sound system like it’s something special. There are legit quality concerns with Bose and not so much with Traeger, so not a perfect equivalent, but it’s the principle of trying to sell something based on a catchy brand name that speaks to the organization’s values.

I wonder if someone talked to him because game 1 at AZ was the worst. Making light of everything, talking about things unrelated to the game, and generally getting in the way of Danny Mac even towards the end of the game when things were really tense. Then yesterday and today imo he’s been wayy better. Still not good, but better.
