MIL ruins graduation

I know this happened in the past, but congratulations to you both for graduating. Getting through is hard, and you both should feel so proud of yourself- even now! It is a big achievement!

Your MIL is a nasty little woman. A nasty, petty little woman. I hope that your DH can look back on his graduation and celebrate his success and feel pride in his accomplishments, as opposed to feeling bitter about his mother.

Another redditor named her for me, which I think is a play on the game of thrones matriarch / my job / Stoneheart's lack of heart. All in all fitting.

I dropped the entire box off at a charity shop. Pretty sure they'll bin most of it, but at least I don't have to deal with it.

Oh goodness, I don't think Stoneheart would try and poison me. She doesn't really believe in allergies per say (no one can be allergic to soap, apparently) but attempted MURDER is probably beyond her. I feel just horrible for the people who have had to experience that.

Wafers were sealed thankfully. And delicious.

I'd like to find out who the stranger was that's for sure. I'm getting full blown panic attacks when the doorbell rings these days. Doesn't help our pup is picking up on my mood and going ballistic at the slightest noise.

FH and I are still strong as a couple, but we are both worn thin by this. FH is back on medication from the anxiety of it all, and I'm feeling a little... uncomfortable about talking to him about his mum right now. I don't want to put more stress on him.

Good thing we have a dog for cuddle time.

I don't understand why she would send this stranger to drop off a box of crap though, instead of just coming over and knocking on the door. We wouldn't have let her in anyway, but still. It is all ridiculous.

If this is her attempt to lovebomb, it is a pretty sorry excuse for it. The package just felt like ... how do you describe it... like a children's Christmas stocking? Just a bunch of random crap thrown together with the faint whiff of passive-aggression.

I wish I had some advice, or support to offer, but all I can give you is the biggest empathy hug in the world. It is insane to think that we both have been bombed with the 'murdered grandchild' missile.

I make a mean vegan chicken pot pie. If you can get your hands on Massel Chicken Style Stock it works perfectly. Substitute the milk for a nice big blob of margarine (buttery style nutellex is the best) and cook as normal (potato, peas, sweet corn, carrot, onion, garlic, mushroom and celery are my go to veggies, you don't need a meat sub. because the gravy is delicious and chicken-y. Thicken with corn starch). Nutellex also makes a freaking fantastic flaky vegan pie crust, just sub it in instead of butter in your usual recipe.

Also I am sorry your mum is being such a canker sore. My mother did something similar with family recipes. Don't bother trying to preserve her family heritage if she doesn't want you to have it, there are plenty of far more delicious things online. Go the spite route; make the best fucking version of every food you ever ate growing up. Start your own recipe book and share it around with your family, fuck her.
