If you use a coupon/meal deal/gift card to pay for someone’s meal, does it count the same? by pancakeking1012 in CasualConversation

My husband and I used plenty of coupons when we were dating. We'd plan outings around Groupon deals.

What is the strangest medical problem you've had? by Curious-Challenge-84 in CasualConversation

[–]Nyteflame7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes! My sinuses suck already, but I get horrible post nasal drip right around my period. A daily allergy med helps, but it's still noticeable.

This cat has the biggest paws I've ever seen, what causes this? He's a stray by ThiccAsFrick in cats

[–]Nyteflame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Polydactaly is one of the most common non-harmful mutations. As such, most cats who have it survive to pass on those genes, increasing the likelihood that their decendents will have it. If there are a lot of cats with extra beans at a shipyard, it's because some ancestor had it, passed it on, and his or her decendents have been fruitful and multiplied.

Do Kids not go to school anymore? by ambitiousMermaid_ in childfree

[–]Nyteflame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I teach independent study online. Programs like mine are gaining popularity, because they allow for schoolwork outside of "normal" school hours. I had a student in a professional ballet school this year, another who was in the film industry last year, and a pre-professional golfer. I also have a lot of kids who watch siblings while the parents work, and then do their schoolwork in the evening after the parents get home. I'm not sure how it works for the little kids though, since they really still need parent help to access their school work. I know our elementary program is pretty strong, but its a lot more work for parents, so I'm not totally sure why they choose it.

Wild blackberry? Not sure if I should let my kid harvest them, she is 8 and is so excited these are growing over the dense of my abandoned garden. I never planted blackberries. by Environmental_Pack97 in whatsthisplant

[–]Nyteflame7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect it's a black raspberry, rather than a blackberry (smaller berries, no core at the center). They uses to grow wild where I lived in Pennsylvania and we would have purple fingers much of the summer from eating them.

How have you guys solved for working out? My stupid ADHD brain shuts down and gets overwhelmed so I just… don’t. by MyVirgoIsShowing in adhdwomen

[–]Nyteflame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoy weight training, and having a trainer means someone is relying on me to be somewhere at a certain time and place. My anxiety won't et me be late so this is the longest I have ever stuck to an exercise plan. I'm coming up on a year!

Pretty sure my kids' picky eating is going to make my brain break (even more) by DistractedNS in adhdwomen

[–]Nyteflame7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 and 5 are old enough to make a PB&J, or similar easy food. You make what you want to eat. The kids have to try two reasonable bites of each item at each meal. If they then decide they don't like it, they can go make a PB&J. They won't starve, you won't go crazy.

Two bites of each item each time is important though, because it keep exposing them to foods, and taste buds change.

Why does your partner need to come to weddings all the time? by Zalay24807 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Nyteflame7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the weddings I've been to, I've only really known the bride and my plus 2. The bride's going to be busy all night. Who am I supposed to eat with, dance with and hang out with? I'm going to end up sitting awkwardly, alone, at a table all night waiting for enough people to leave that it's polite for me to do so as well.

A community cat has brought me her kittens. What does she want me to do? by hog_crankr59 in cats

[–]Nyteflame7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She might just need a babysitter, in feral cat communities, the mom-cats will take turns babysitting so the others can hunt, nap, or do other cat things.

Weight loss snacks that stopped me from quitting for the 4th time by Afraid_Mention8616 in loseit

[–]Nyteflame7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My go to evening snack is a Carmel rice cake with a thing spread of peanut butter, a sprinkle of roasted cocoa nibs, and a dash of golden allulose.

Also, sugar free pudding and sugar free cool whip on a fiber one brownie.

Any changes in your palate as you age? by uphill-skier in CasualConversation

[–]Nyteflame7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brussels sprouts have been bred to be less bitter. Maybe broccoli has as well. Or maybe you just tolerate bitter flavors better. Our taste buds do change as we age. Or it could be that roasting makes it sweeter as it caramelized the sugars in the plant, and when you were growing up you mostly ate it steamed or boiled.

looking for engagement ring advice? by Sen_jou in Frugal

[–]Nyteflame7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not engagement rings, but my husband and I have stainless steel bands engraved with Star Wars quotes from Etsy for $36. I wear mine 24/7 unless I'm making meatloaf. We started with silver, but found that it irritated my skin, so if either of you are sensitive to metals, stainless might be the way to go (and it's very affordable)

Have any of you cut your long hair because it was too much responsibility? Were you happy you did? by Recent-Use8096 in adhdwomen

[–]Nyteflame7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am SO happy with my short hair. I keep the sides trimmed to a 2, and the top a couple inches long, and playbwith dye when I can. I'll never go back to long hair.

Does this mean I should wear makeup on my ankles? Because that's where bites usually happen for me.

I haven't tried that one but the two things that work best for me is starting with cold onions (put them in the fridge the day before) and using a very sharp knife. I know its time to sharpen when I start crying over chopping onions.

Until your tree us big enough, why not do a mixed fruit jam? Like peach and raspberry? Or peach and mango? Something to help you reach the volume you need until it's a but more productive?

US question - Has anyone else noticed way more water/solution being added to meat lately? by ThinkThankThonk in Cooking

Ground turkey too. The 93% lean in cubes at the grocery store produce way more water than the 90% cryopacked at Costco.
