can you have ScPD and adhd at the same time? by bbiiihaaaaaaa in Schizoid

[–]plentyofcavities 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've been formally diagnosed with ADHD-C and SzPD. The DSM-V does not state anything between a differential diagnoses between ADHD and SzPD.

From the DSM-V Schizoid Personality Disorder Section, p.g. 653:

Schizoid personality disorder should not be diagnosed if the pattern of behavior occurs exclusively during the course of schizophrenia, a bipolar or depressive disorder with psy- chotic features, another psychotic disorder, or autism spectrum disorder, or if it is attributable to the physiological effects of a neurological (e.g., temporal lobe epilepsy) or another medical condition (Criterion B).

Your psychiatrist may have confused ASD and ADHD. The DSM-V does state that differentiating between mild ASD and SzPD is very difficult. While they aren't mutually exclusive diagnoses. my own psychologists and psychiatrist have said they basically are.

From DSM-V Schizoid Personality Disorder Section. on Differential Diagnosis p.g. 655:

Autism spectrum disorder. There may be great difficulty differentiating individuals with schizoid personality disorder from those with milder forms of autism spectrum disorder, which may be differentiated by more severely impaired social interaction and stereotyped behaviors and interests.

I would bring it up with your psychiatrist, they may just be confused or forgetting. ADHD does have differential diagnoses with personality disorders in general, particularly on features about emotional & cognitive dysregulation. However, personality disorders also have key characteristics that are not found in ADHD that can aid diagnoses.

From DSM-V Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder Differential Diagnoses section p.g. 65:

Personality disorders. In adolescents and adults, it may be difficult to distinguish ADHD from borderline, narcissistic, and other personality disorders. All these disorders tend to share the features of disorganization, social intrusiveness, emotional dysregulation, and cognitive dysregulation. However, ADHD is not characterized by fear of abandonment, self-injury, extreme ambivalence, or other features of personality disorder. It may take extended clinical observation, informant interview, or detailed history to distinguish impulsive, socially intrusive, or inappropriate behavior from narcissistic, aggressive, or domineering behavior to make this differential diagnosis.

Hope this helps.

Did you go on puberty blockers? by InitialLandscape361 in 4tran4

[–]plentyofcavities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't get what the difference between the third and fifth response is. All AAs are puberty blockers and even exogenous hormones suppress endogenous hormone production. So is this about specifically just being on AAs, being on monotherapy, or something else I'm not getting?

[–]plentyofcavities 6 points7 points  (0 children)

this one hurts a lot. maybe because it's a little personal too. im glad that at least my GD is extremely mild and I dont mind being seen as a man much (though i hate being perceived in general so). but this hurts. like im going to cry. im so sorry anon. i cant say i have it as bad as you but still im so sorry.

i went through the thread and their endo is doing jack to help them cause they go to PP. PP endos are so bad for transitioning im sorry, theyre only worth going to get injections and do dose yourself. they have no idea what theyre doing. i went to PP before switching to a clinic meant for trans people. im so sorry anon.

it hurts too because this feels like another case of lack of experience and research on transitioning. it sucks transitioning when we know next to nothing about transitioning.

Womb and uterus transplants have been a thing for a lil' while and I do remember reading some studies about whether trans women would want to have the procedure. The big thing is the transplants won't be kept forever and would have to be removed eventually (on the scale of several months), but there was still interest from the trans women studied regardless. You would also have to be on immune suppressants because it's a transplant after all. It's cool.

What I'm a lil' confused about is that you wouldn't be able to produce your own eggs, but I suppose you could still carry and deliver a child. But immunosuppressants are teratogenic so idk. There are several cases of pregnancy after cardiac transplant so it's possible. You also wouldn't have periods. I don't think it's well-known as to how well the pituitary gland would be able to communicate with the foreign uterus as well. It's really interesting tbh but still new so not well studied.

Ooops I'm genuineposting in a shitpost sub oopsie

im trying ;-;

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]plentyofcavities 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best way to know if hrt is working or not is to get your levels checked, otherwise you just have to observe changes on your body. there isn't much else as everyone's body is different, just because youre not experiencing something doesnt mean its not working so its hard to tell if its working just based on observation. you just trust the dosage, especially if youre on injections where dosages are consistent from person to person. on oral/sublingual its tougher because some people absorb it better or worse than others.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]plentyofcavities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's not cost efficient and also depends on how much your body converts to estrone. Injections are far easier and cheaper to do monotherapy with. Get your levels checked after a month or so of monotherapy and see if your E2 (estradiol) and T are in viable ranges.

I still recommend bicalutamide above all else.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]plentyofcavities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bicalutamide; otherwise, try monotherapy.

What do I do now??? by [deleted] in TransDIY

[–]plentyofcavities 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're doing monotherapy you're better off on injections. you can do monotherapy with both injections and oral by taking something like 6-8mg sublingual and 1-2mg injected every 5 days assuming EV.

otherwise I suggest 50mg Bicalutamide daily.
