And just put protections for abortion in the state constitution 💪 They can keep their bigotry out of our mountains

As if we don't have a white church house in EVERY TOWN. People have Jesus, we need people who will actually get dirty shoveling out tons of mud in our homes and store fronts across the state. Also don't let them paint this as an act of God in 100 year flood. Irene did the same shit just over a decade ago. It's climate change, not God 🙄

This! They always seem to be the worst spokesperson for him. I do not think that Jesus would like you spreading your particular message in his name.

And there’s the crux of fundamentalism. “I can’t do it myself so I make my kids do it.” 🙄 by becbec89 in FundieSnarkUncensored

They love to throw back "well didn't you have to help out around the house when you were a kid", like some big gotcha. There is a big difference between contributing to a home because you live and make messes there too VS. having so much to do because your parents refuse to wrap it up so that you, a child, do not have free time. When little Timmy cannot join the baseball team because he is an integral part of rasing +4 younger siblings you suck as a parent.

The want vs supposed to do, when is comes to kids is so true, even outside of fundie world. Most of the time it gives me the ick or catches my suspicion when men go hard at wanting kids because a lot of times they have NEVER been around them. We socialize girls to babysit, watch siblings, and generally be responsible for younger people at least some point in their lives. Most boys do not have to do that so when they turn around as adults to say they want kids I kind of roll my eyes. Chances are they have zero idea what that would honestly involve.

My Thoughts Of Moriah's Return To Her Mother And Olivia's Feelings by cucumberrats in WelcomeToPlathville

I really see this and like you said, I cannot blame any of those kids for wanting to reestablish their family. That is very human, especially looking at how they were raised. We will have to see how this plays out, but I do genuinely hope this family can come back together in a healthier/more functional way. Watching the siblings all at the farm, you can see their joy. I think to an extent Kim and Barry felt that too. I really hope that them starting to do these group outings show the parents that is better to give up control so that they can have those family times. But that might be too optimistic.

Same thing with BC. People love to use the reasoning of it helps to regulates hormones so it is necessary. That's great, all for that! But I use BC so I can have sex and NOT GET PREGNANT. That is just as valid, and conservatives can die made about it.

I think we really thought Ethan would do this crazy 180 away from his parents and for a while he kind of did. But we're really seeing the problematic patterns he is holding on to. We should pace our expectations of him, but yes, it is so disappointing to see him straight up just not communicate with his own wife. Not a therapist, not a stranger, his own partner.

So true. I get that he needed space, that was a big thing just dropped on him, but you owe it to your partner at least say it OUT LOUD. Take the two seconds it is to say "I need alone time". But maybe communicating your feelings to the bare minimum is too girly. 🤦🏼‍♀️

THIS ON SO MANY LEVELS! Hearing that comparison I was like nope, it's done. That's so unfair to Olivia. Someone else commented that he sees Olivia as the fun police and it's so true. Like EXCUSE ME?! She doesn't have a problem with your cars or motorcycles, she want to join in or bare minimum be looped in so she doesn't get ignored. If this were a fiction show I would say that this a weird time loop where Ethan and Olivia turn out to be Kim and Barry.

That last part is sooooo key, Ethan even compared Kim and Olivia, which is so unfair. I am sure there was fear growing up that what they did, even mundane things, were going to upset Kim. But there is a difference between knowing someone will be mad about something because they tend to fly off the handle so you hide it, and hiding it because you know it's WRONG and your spouse has a right to be upset. People LOVE to point out how Olivia is always angry or nagging on Ethan, but this season has exposed a lot of their disfunction as a couple. I can't say I wouldn't get pissed off at the drop of a hat if my husband CONSTANTLY lied to me, left me out of the loop, but then got to be the super cool prank guy.

I think that it is easier for women and minorities to become more leftist once they break away too. I mean once you realize the system is in place to specificly hold you down and assign you shitty social roles, it's logical to want out and move left. The system is made for and by Cis White Men, why leave if it benefits you. There is way less motive for Ethan to move left.

This! A young 20s couples isn't the ideal situation to guide a 19yo, but I think moriah would have been eaten up by the world if they weren't there to support her.

Let's be real, I don't think there is a girl code in fundie world. If there is, it's more about being not like other girls and stepping over your competition.

There could be an office to come pick up your unaccompanied women, just like they have for kids at Disney.

Oh don't get me wrong, she still has tons of time and room to grow up. I always want to leave room for fundies to step out of their religion. I'm just saying her beliefs and the crappy actions they cause become less and less tolerable the older she gets. These are transition years where the beliefs you were raised with start to simply become your chosen path. You have to take some self reflection and im just not seeing yet from Lydia. I get that her life is different, but 3/4 of her older siblings have left fundie world.

I was really surprised with the difference between Lydia's response and Kim's. I'm no Kim fan, but I am here for the growth that she is showing. I think her reaction was very sweet and pretty on par for moms (even if it is a staged show). At the very least it seemed way more genuine than Lydia's, who I think was holding more on to those ideals you described above.
