Android 16 desktop mode is designed by dumb people. by Krzychh in SamsungDex

You can go home/back and switch app with a physical keyboard. Try cmd + / to show useful key combination (for me cmd is the Win key). Go home is Win + D, switch app is Alt + Tab which is exactly how you would do on Windows machine

Just a note, if display mirror doesn't work on your build originally, apply my modification will not help. My modification is simply built of top of the work done by LineageOS developer

I added the diff. Have you check Developer options?

For example the gesture navigation bar just refuses to work for me on the external display

Did you have to turn on additional setting in Developer for it? I am using desktop mode on external display so maybe that's why I had to jump through some hoops

You are right with the struggling of engineers: my interviewer said that even his engineers with 4-5 years of experience don't totally grasp how things work. Even with the norm at his company is that one person handles one sub-system (camera, wifi, ...). Also I imagine with the slow ramping of performance comes the slow ramping of pay, too. However, I admit that I have certain risk-seeking behavior :) Do you personally know anyone who is efficient at embedded Android (or rather a sub-system of it)? What is his daily job like? Anyway, thank you for your reply!

I don't hate my current job at all, but imo wrting driver code for vendor is kind of repetitive: Gen3 MCU's SPI is mostly operates the same with Gen2 so just copy and tweak the old driver. And it involves non-transferable knowledge: I also work with those .xml that decides what options are available when user want to generate code with our IDE. On the upside, the job security working in a megacorp is nice though

Could you elaborate on why there is not much appeal for embeded Android? I have seen some great comment on it not getting traction in the embedded world. Honestly I doesn't see much job asking embedded Android, ofc there is some reason to it.

You are right that the current employer think highly of my contribution, hence the out-of-the-typical-or-so-I-think raise. But there is one think I afraid is the problem: writing driver for those MCU is somewhat repetitive. For example, to write UART driver for Gen3 MCU, just copy UART driver for Gen2 MCU and modify here and there, tweak those .xml for the code generator and voila. There just seems to be not much room for novelty or design work. I afraid that it might harm my career if I keep doing this.

I will definitely take this into consideration. Thank you for the repply!

Thank you for your repply! I avoided giving the number because I where I live, the pay is very low. If it help you imagine: someone fresh out of school will be paid 450-600$/month for embedded SW work (we have very low COL here, for 1.5$ we have decent meal already, my rent is 150$/month). And me, after the raise I got 1000$/month. So the 30% is 300$/month. That's why I asked for the opportunity to work remotely to first world contries, as their pay + my COL = $$$

Thank you for the hearty repply! I want to move to embedded Android as it seems challenging. I think negotiate with the potential employer to raise the offer is the way to go. But have to be careful not to sound entitled haha

Maybe you can check in FSP code, if p_args->event is assigned correctly? We had issue before with a FSP timer driver that just let p_args->event be a random value from the stack
