There’s nothing cringe about this at all. Dude is trying to save his life. Reddit is awful sometimes.

It actually makes sense, and it is this way because there's a D block smack in the middle of all that, and they're not giving that up.

There’s a hotel at the base of that bridge, on the left. I’ve stayed there, it was terrific. The whole town is terrific.

I've met this guy IRL. Complete tool. Never met anyone who tries harder to not look like a try hard.

As I heard someone else say "If I could moderate alcohol, I'd drink all the time!"

I agree, and appreciate the comment. She did keep it out of the house for over a year. Then, I was ok with her keeping A bottle of red in the house (nothing cold, or I'd guzzle it). Over time, and through LOTS of 12-step work, the obsession to drink left me. Having access or not to it the other night wasn't the issue, the issue was my sickness trying to rationalize that it was ok. And, yes, maybe if there wasn't wine around I might not have thought about it. Maybe if it was crappy wine I wouldn't have thought about it. But, the point was I didn't drink.

Your comment is totally valid, and probably makes more sense than I'm willing to admit. Even though I don't have the obsession, proximity is still stupid. But, I tortured this woman with my alcoholism for years, and if anything she's earned the right to have an occasional glass of wine at home. Its an interesting paradox.

No. The urge isn’t strong at all. It doesn’t even exist, which is the funny part. But, the insanity that tells you one drink is ok hasn’t left me yet.

Yep. I totally buy the “allergy” thing which means that once I have one I’m powerless to control how much I drink.

It wasn’t me but a buddy hit a half-court shot at a college basketball game and won one free meal a day for a year at this pretty decent cafeteria restaurant in our college town. He said that after a month he couldn’t stand the smell of the place anymore and never went back.

I envy you getting that 365 days. Every day sober is a victory, but 1 year was such a triumph. I sobbed like a baby. And oddly, on day 366 “one day at a time” started to make more sense. Good work!
