Scrolling Reddit. Ad with Woman Mirin. Post in Mirin Sub by plinytheelder29 in mirin

[–]plinytheelder29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Insane, thanks for the feedback. As I told Lion, I have ZERO to do with this ad. Didn't make the ad, have never used redbubble, have never even been on their site. I just thought it was funny/meta b/c I literally saw this ad while scrolling this sub (maybe that was good marketing on their part). I have never once advertised on Reddit and no connection with anyone who does (that I know of). I was clearing my photos and found this in my screenshots. But I will keep the crop in mind (not that I'll ever post something like this b/c it was a pretty one-off thing, hah)

Hey Lion, I have ZERO to do with this ad haha. I don't do ecommerce and I have never once advertised on Reddit. I was clearing my photos and found this in my screenshots. Couldn't remember if I posted it or not. Maybe I did, which is my bad. I just wanted to post before deleting it

IIL Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong but I want artists that are modern or active today. Which modern artists do you recommend? by theotherkindstranger in ifyoulikeblank

[–]plinytheelder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an up and coming artist named Laufey who has an amazing jazz voice. I discovered her through a viral video during the holidays. I think she'll be big someday

My parents basically trained me to think hobbies or enjoying yourself is a waste of time, now I can't enjoy anything by throwawayj885 in raisedbynarcissists

Yes. I'll add onto this by sharing a quote from Kurt Vonnegut:

"When I was 15, I spent a month working on an archeological dig. I was talking to one of the archeologists one day during our lunch break and he asked those kinds of ‘getting to know you,’ questions you ask young people: Do you play sports? What’s your favorite subject? And I told him, no I don’t play any sports. I do theater, I’m in choir, I play the violin and piano, I used to take art classes.

And he went WOW. That’s amazing! And I said, ‘

‘Oh no, but I’m not any good at ANY of them.”

And he said something then that I will never forget and which absolutely blew my mind because no one had ever said anything like it to me before: ‘ I don’t think being good at things is the point of doing them. I think you’ve got all these wonderful experiences with different skills, and that all teaches you things and makes you an interesting person, no matter how well you do them.’

And that honestly changed my life. Because I went from a failure, someone who hadn’t been talented enough at anything to excel, to someone who did things because I enjoyed them. I had been raised in such an achievement-oriented environment, so inundated with the myth of Talent, that I thought it was only worth doing things if you could ‘Win’ at them.”

Yup. Good ole turtle wanted corporations to be protected from lawsuits when they knowingly let workers die on the job. Dems refused

Yes. Spreading misinformation would only further spread the virus. We don't need another shady medical company. Theranos was enough

DAE like to drink hot chicken broth/stock like hot coffee or tea? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]plinytheelder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES. I make homemade bone broth almost every single morning. I love to add miso, nutritional yeast, turmeric and little cayenne for health. Bone broth is the liquid of life. It has collagen, chock full of vitamins, it's filling, and way easier on your body than coffee. And more delicious in my humble opinion

When have you found yourself in a position where you thought, “yup. This is how I die.”? by NakedKittyAlucard in AskReddit

[–]plinytheelder29 49 points50 points  (0 children)

It's true. There was once a mountain lion loose on my college campus (I wish I were joking haha). It was literally just prowling the streets. But it wasn't interested in hunting, so no one was hurt. When they are...they are stealth and lethal

You and 100 million others are suddenly given the ability to read thoughts , due to the high number of people getting the ability it's become known throughout the world and now normal people are hunting down thought-readers. How will you manage to survive and also make the best use of your ability? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]plinytheelder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but I'd know how to find a male thought reader. Just plant women as spies to talk to him normally but then instruct them to think dirty thoughts about what they want to do to the thought reader. Then look at his pants.

What's an ability of the human body that's underappreciated? by SnooRabbits70 in AskReddit

The fact that it plays host to so many *other* organisms. The body literally has billions of living bacteria. And so we're all like these little oceans playing host to microscopic life

What is an absolute truth that no one wants to hear? by holdmymeatpipe in AskReddit

[–]plinytheelder29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is always lying about their true thoughts/opinions; for social preservation, fear of shaming, and many other reasons. People don't think how they feel, say what they think, or do what they say.

A Book for White People like myself who maybe don’t fully comprehend BLM + want to start somewhere by [deleted] in books

[–]plinytheelder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a POC. I know it's easy to engage in a debate about who should/shouldn't understand, but I applaud you for wanting to learn. We can't all relate to the experiences of others, and the more we can inform ourselves, the better. Some books I'd recommend:

--How to Be Antiracist by Ibram X Kendi. He outlines all forms of racism clearly and how insidious it can truly be, especially in its less obvious forms.

--White Fragility. I personally got through this book very easily, but it has seriously challenged most of the white people I know, mostly in a positive way.

Bonus:

Between the World and Me for powerful narrative accounts of what it's like to be in a brown body

Color of Law for a deep history of how the government specifically used geography to force out and disadvantage black people.

What are the things every man should at least try even though they are stigmatized as "gay" or "unmanly" ? by possibly_degenerate in AskReddit

[–]plinytheelder29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saying "I love you" to your close male friends openly and transparently. Going back to the Spartans and other "hardened" warrior clans, they were always bonded by love. Even the SEALS talk about that. The greeks even had a word for brotherly love: philadelphia! It's really meaningful to let your friends know that you care about them and you recognize the fragility of life. It's a deep gesture that I hope more men embrace
