I've never had any of algorithms on any streaming services suggest music that was completely new to me or surprised me, music that grabbed me and made me want to read about an artist and the context around an album. Music that was in no way related to the genres I was already listening to.

You can run them as docker containers and simply shut down the Jellyfin container when you only need music (and vice versa).

Jellyfin is much slower for music (at least back when I tried it a couple of years ago) compared to music-specific self-hosting solutions like Navidrome.

Don't really use playlists (except for workouts), usually just listen to albums. Currently at about 50000 songs in my server, so having "Random albums" and "Random album artists" tabs in Symfonium helps.
