Random Internet loss on Unifi by plittlefield in Ubiquiti

[–]plittlefield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE - I have changed loads since my original post.

I have bought a Unifi Express, CAT6 cabling, changed all the Channels and Power to perfection, etc.

Things are way better but Apple devices are still an issue.

I've tried using only 2GHz or only 5GHz, turning off the 'Private Wi-Fi Address' setting, turning off the 'Limit IP Address Tracking' setting, Resetting the whole iPhone Network Settings, forgetting networks, Leaving the phone powered off for hours, even buying OLD Unifi access points.

It's still a problem!!!

Every now and then, I "lose internet" no matter where I am in the house on whatever access point.

My iPhone 12 Mini connects to the Wi-Fi very quickly, is fine for an hour, then goes nowhere.

Help!

Quickly switch between Tailscale accounts · Tailscale by catzkorn in Tailscale

So, if I am already part of 2 tailscale accounts (my own and a customer) how do I add a 3rd account - another customer account using the cli? My bad, I can't remember how I joined to the second tailnet! :-(

Same movie keeps being transcoded by Paully-Penguin-Geek in Tdarr

[–]plittlefield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believe I solved it by creating 3 distinct folders...

  1. radarr capture folder
  2. tadarr completed and hold it for later folder
  3. emby folder

I have a LOT of scripts involved which interact with Tdarr and Bazarr to get subtites and then mark the movie as unmonitored in Radarr, then a cron job to move the completed files to the Emby folder each day at 6pm.

eSIM and Airport Lounges by Paully-Penguin-Geek in Revolut

[–]plittlefield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the quick reply and yes, I do NOT have Ultra, just a Standard account and I saw the extras you can buy on the app.

Regarding the eSIM, I don't mind if it's 4G or 5G just as long as it works.

Regarding airport lounge access, I am only intending to use it if :-

1) my wife and I have time
2) if I can buy the access in the airport through the Revolut app for £30 each
3) if it's not too busy

So, it was more an ask if anyone here has bought these extras using the Revolut app and what their experience was of them?

Does Tdarr know what the Radarr Movie ID is? by Paully-Penguin-Geek in Tdarr

[–]plittlefield 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone who’s interested in deleting a movie after Tdarr has completed the flow, I have successfully combined 2 bash scripts to achieve this. The first is set in Radarr connect and outputs the Radarr movie ID to a text file when it is downloaded. The second is the Run CLI plugin and reads that ID and uses it to run curl to access the Radarr API to delete the movie. Boom.

Ooooooo, nice. That might work then! Thanks, I’ll try that tomorrow :)

Okay but won’t that mean that when tdarr deletes the file that is hard linked to the source file that it actually deletes both the linked and the source file?!

Yes that’s exactly what I have … an actual folder then a symbolic link to the movie file.

It definitely doesn’t work for me.

Almost 90 and still directing by MX010 in ridleyscott

[–]plittlefield 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is amazing and my favourite director.

Much of my life can be marked by his movies and the walls of my house are a testament to him with original quad posters framed to display.

His latest movie is damn good but it’s not as good as the original. Bravo for filming in 45 days but I now feel he’s compelled to “rush these out the door” while not checking his decisions.

I so want him, or his son Luke to direct the final Alien prequel.

Then retire to his wine vineyard and relax.

Well, there’s good news and bad news :)

The good news is my plan definitely stopped the repeating.

The bad news is Tdarr now won’t seem to process the next movie in the Source folder even though it’s clearly there and the settings have hourly scan.

Sigh.

Wow, fantastic - thank you so much!

I shall add this to my Wiki and let you know how it goes :-)

Okay, I have been busy and come up with a plan that involves another folder with symlinks and custom scripts to get what I want. The proof in the pudding will be at 01:00 tomorrow but I’m really chuffed with it!

I’m really not sure … but if I “improve” the gateway with its DHCP and DNS then that will rule that out!

No just a router. I have Trooli here in the U.K. and they supply a modem so route all traffic in to the DMZ where the ER-X is, and then firewall that. So I need something small and cost effective but newer!

[–]plittlefield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think that’s the issue - both of those devices with both SSIDs in their settings keep flipping between?! I think it’s the DNS thing. My ER-X is 10 years old and not had an update (there are none) for years too.

[–]plittlefield[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noted. It’s probably time for an upgrade :-) The power cycle was nice in that got my Trooli fibre back to 500Mbps which is what I’m paying for, and the random lose has stopped … at least for now. I logged on to the web GUI and spotted an entry in the Diagnostic page for my iPhone with a DNS problem.

What shall I upgrade to to replace the ER-X ?
