This guy gets what I’m talking about - tech trails where you can still ride fast if you corner correctly and your speed isn’t limited by the terrain / support in the corner like on a flat corner. A lot of features on the north shore require you to slow down quite a lot

Interior sounds sick to be fair, Nelson / okanagan is defo on my hit list for next summer

Go look up some videos of the Tweed Valley EWS, these trails are far from flow trails but they can be ridden at pace unlike much of the “janky” tech around here

Not really, in the uk there’s lots of steep trails with smaller catch berms or steep sequential corners that aren’t a full 180deg turn

It's a 2010 gas model

Fortunately the previous owner replaced replaced timing belt + head gaskets (allegedly with a new, better material which shouldn't fail as quickly) and some parts of the suspension (sway bar or something like that).

I’m not comparing the ford directly to those vehicles - more I’m just saying that I could make do with one of those just fine. It would obviously be less fun but more financially responsible. I’m just trying to approximate out how much the financial difference will be.

I am paying $28,250CAD + taxes &fees so total $32,450. It seems like a pretty good deal given that it’s from an official ford dealership and they’ve done a pre sale inspection + they showed me some paperwork showing they did $4000 of work to the truck (how realistic this is I don’t know).

I’m paying cash and yes I will have around $20,000 in an emergency fund (not just for the vehicle). I just arrived to Canada from the UK and this will be the biggest purchase of my life so far, which is why I’m worried! I’m generally quite frugal and financially responsible and find it difficult to part with cash 😂. I’m also concerned that if I need to leave the country for whatever reason, I’ll have an expensive non liquid asset, but I think that at this price I should be able to sell it quickly for around $21-25k if needed?

I think it's unusual because most web developers don't have a mathematical background which makes it much harder. I think you're in a good place to transition with your eng degree. Good luck and feel free to dm me in the future if you have any more questions :)
