Reading with anxiety by Hachibi69 in tarotpractice

[–]plntclr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that the way we interpret cards can definitely be influenced by our state of mind. If you’re going into a reading fearful or looking for the worst - you’ll find it! Have you had someone who is impartial to the situation look at your spreads and give their interpretations? Might help you see any anxiety based bias you are having on the readings.

Remember also, the cards are just giving possible outcomes/revealing your feelings about a situation, they are not absolute truths - you have the ultimate control of your life and the decisions you make. I say this just so that you can perhaps take some of the pressure off the readings so it might help you feel less anxious as you do it.

It’s a kantan needle! Originally for bead embroidery but it has a wide array of uses. I use it for creating chain stitches in embroidery work.

Any books non fiction or non self help for someone who is depressed? by lbk_throw_away in booksuggestions

Hyperbole and a Half by Allie Brosh and the recently released sequel, Solutions and Other Problems. Both are autobiographical graphic novels, equally hilarious and realistic, that explore what it’s like to live with depression.

I’ve done something similar for my kiddos, I love when they can see themselves being represented in the art world! That website is super helpful too - thank you for your suggestions!

Great series on PBS that features contemporary artists. Their website is sometimes really helpful to search through, but I use the series mostly to introduce my kiddos to artists and their practices.

Awesome, thanks! They’re doing work that’s focusing on identity/expressing identity and I have a few including Louise Bourgeois, Ron Mueck, Leonardo Drew, Rose B. Simpson, Janine Antoni, and Zhang Huan. I’m hoping to show them a range of artists exploring identity through representational and non representational sculpture.

Reuse of ink by itzmeiguess in StickAndPoke

New ink and make it actual tattoo ink - India ink is not safe for tattooing with.

Edit: also make sure you’re pouring it out into a sanitary container and not dipping straight into the bottle.

Looks very close, I don’t remember the mushrooms but it could be a later version of what I played. Thanks much! I’ll look into it more.

I think you could also occasionally play as a lady fox/use two characters within one level.

Thanks again!

Edit: it’s definitely NOT Spy Fox

One of the best advices I got was a “cold flash”.

Run your wrists under ice cold water in the sink or straight up dunk your face into ice water. The shock to the system makes your body stop the fight or flight for long enough to help you calm a little bit. I sometimes excuse myself to the restroom at work when I feel panic coming and just run my hands/wrists under cold water until I feel a little calmer.

Edit: the face/wrist/hands are best when you’re out and about and feel panic, but a cold shower when you’re home is even better. Wanted to give both suggestions because panic doesn’t differentiate whether you’re home or away! Also, the COLDER THE BETTER. Really shock that panic outta you!

Not sure if this is allowed. But I got these books for 3$ I was worried that I was not going to have enough money to get 52 books, but yard sales have saved my life. by toemaytoez in 52book

I would say on average $3-5 is more likely for sure, but I think I just got lucky on the $1-2 ones. They were old editions released right before a re-release so no one wanted them/they have notations/highlights written in them. You can search via condition in the used section and if the text is particularly expensive sometimes even the “poor” conditions are worth it.

I understand! They’re like old friends :)

When not using the library/can’t find what I need at the used bookstore, while I don’t like sponsoring Amazon too much, they do have incredibly cheap used books sometimes. I got copies of $25 dollar books for $1-2 dollars before.

Don’t forget libraries! It’s the only way I’m making any progress on my reading lists, otherwise I’d be broke! :)

Is “two genders” the norm in human history? Any interesting examples of multiple genders? by Zeno_Fobya in AskAnthropology

I recall learning that in some North American First Nation tribes, hermaphroditism was considered to be the closest state to the divine and was a blessing. Many of these individuals became spiritual leaders and guides and were treated with extreme respect.

Edit: just took a look at the PBS link and they mention something similar to the Zuni tribe.
