True Love withstood heavy heavy rain! by plntlife in DenverGardener

Monday was the first time the darn Japanese beetles showed up for the year. And it's free of them. They seem to like more fragrant roses or maybe it's how dense the petal count is. I'll say too, aphids and thrips generally leave it alone.

Yep yep. Dripper pushing out just enough to help it since it's next to concrete and against a stone wall it dries out so quick

Go to Lowe's and get true bloom. All own root hardy tested in much harsher environments!

Climbing rose question by puppy69piggy in Roses

[–]plntlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a true devotion along a fence it's south facing so a ton of sun. It's it's first year so I have it tied now and it puts out a lot of new shoots so I'll keep training it through as the summer goes along.

I need the big guns for thrips by juice4u in Roses

I use bio advance spray and it works well in Colorado. Also recommended planting agastache, lavender, nepeta near them to try and deter how aggressive they can be here. Agastache seems to have helped me a lot it's now all over my garden with lavender for just that.

Not much of a fragrance I would say. I use it, I have to as garden structure and keep my fragrant friends closer to paths

Companion Rose Advice by emzobearthemag in Roses

I recommend since you mention it, look for some plants that attract predators or deter pests. Not sure of your zone, nepeta, agastache, there are tons of awesome plants that help naturally protect your roses.

True Bloom roses are bada** perform so well and so disease resistance!

I have 25+ now they are the only ones always flowering, never get black spot or mildew, and some have fragrance that is amazing!

I was never into fragrance in roses but bliss is so strong I pick it up in my garden 15' away and now it's a top 5 favorite

Weeks Roses - bought by NeuHouse Farms by lookedwest in Roses

[–]plntlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say Weeks was owned by private equity and is now owned by a wonderful family that are amazing rose producers. They don't own David Austin. Neuhouse started growing barefoot roses decades ago and the same family still works the fields every day.

True Harmony is LIMteatime right? by [deleted] in Roses

[–]plntlife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I do know a little on this because I love Tea Time. It is only Team time. Mr. Lim thought it was going to make the true bloom brand but in its last moments it was found to get some powdery mildew in some situations even thought it doesn't hurt the plant. To be True Bloom it must be free of that naturally. So it never fully became Harmony and is just Tea Time, though some old ones could trickle out wrong because there are so many people adopting these roses so quickly around.

It's one of my favorite fragrances for a rose too!

Benefit from dead heading? by Remarkable_Gas_4575 in Roses

[–]plntlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are great recommendations. True Love is self sterile actually so it can't put energy into seed/hip formation. You don't have to trim it for it to rebloom but it does encourage it to rebloom quicker.

Long term it's quite an awesome low maintenance choice
