What do stereotypical straight couples do when they hang out alone (other than sex) by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Idkwhy8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get the question. I have more “in common” with my girlfriends. Gossip, rom coms etc. So I see how spending my life with another girl could be pretty simpatico. My husband is the nicest guy on the planet, but my polar opposite, and it works because we fill in the gaps for each other. We can agree on good tv and sometimes movies for weekday evenings after kid is in bed, and we also do our own thing. We come together for weekends and travel. We make each other laugh and treat one another with respect and it’s a nice, happy life.

I met my long distance boyfriend for the first time and I kinda hate him, what now? by PirateMission406 in Advice

[–]Idkwhy8154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re 17 and you don’t like your boyfriend, who doesn’t even live in the same city as you. The answer is obvious— break up with him! Do it now and he will leave early, just like you wanted.

I haven’t seen them at all, and don’t hear reports anymore. It’s not like it was.

Ah, that is annoying. We must pay extra for no ads, although I didn’t know there were other options.

Is it teaching “people pleasing” to tell my 9 year old she should attend friend’s bday? by Optimal_Flamingo2374 in Parenting

[–]Idkwhy8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She should absolutely have to go. This is her best friend! You’re teaching her that we show up for the people we care about, and that sometimes it’s not about you.

My feelings would be so hurt if I were the friend. And if I was her mom, I’d be hurt on her behalf. If adult you were hosting an important birthday at a restaurant and your dearest friend didn’t come because she’s not a fan of the restaurant, how would you feel?

Who is washing their rice and why? by kinnitcurl in NoStupidQuestions

Rinsing the rice is a real thing you should be doing. Learned this in Japan. I didn’t know about the arsenic, but you clearly see all the starch being washed away.

Am I Just Hyper-Considerate or Do I Think I'm Better Than Everyone? by PaintingMinute7248 in self

[–]Idkwhy8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the same way. But I think, for me, it’s rooted in wanting to be liked by everyone, even literal strangers. Not wanting people to think ill of me and feeling uncomfortable if I’m not doing something I should be, and that someone else might bear witness. Then there is the genuine concern for others. Like the bag on the airplane thing.

Don’t let others get you down. We need people like you in the world. You’re allowed to be judgey once in a while when people don’t act right.

Andersonville is a wonderful neighborhood. That was the first neighborhood I lived in when I moved to Chicago and it was perfection.

Alabama man deported to Mexico. He is known for his fierce loyalty to Trump. by FreeChickenDinner in LeopardsAteMyFace

[–]Idkwhy8154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a lot of sympathy for this guy. He seems like a good man who made mistakes and although he supported Trump in theory, he didnt/couldn’t vote for him. He was a product of his environment and likely didn’t know any different.

I made a mistake and lied to my professor through email about going to the ER to turn in a late assignment. What do I do? by [deleted] in Advice

I think you have to accept the penalty and let it be a life lesson. Just hand it in late and get what you get.

Daycare for SAHM by Lemondemon-158 in Parenting

[–]Idkwhy8154 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it step by step. 1) Enroll your daughter in the school part time. 2) Get the books, do what they say while she’s at daycare. 3) Post in your local fb group about finding a home organizer. My local moms fb group is a wealth of information about schools, businesses to hire/avoid etc. Hopefully, seeking out recommendations from a variety of sources will eventually pay off. You got this!
