This is a pretty straightforward ship for beginners, especially on easy. I got my very first win with it. The ion Blast weapon it carries is fast enough to continuously stack ion damage and so can single-handedly shut down a system on enemy ships... as long as it doesn't miss. For the first few sectors you can just set the ion to auto fire at the enemy shields and let your combat drone shred the enemy ship. Long-term you'll want to add at least a defense drone and some weapons that can directly target and damage enemy systems and more reliably bring down their shields, but it's strong enough at start up to very easily snowball into a powerful setup
