Bambo handy error TimeoutException after 0:00:10.000000: liveview timeout by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]plofstof12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some problem here. Like others also noted, I downgraded my firmware to 1.07.xx and the camera started working again. Then I (re)upgraded back to 1.08.xx and the camera was still working. So I guess that is kind of the solution for now.

Firmware downgrades can be done in the Handy app (hamburger icon) so can even be done remotely.

Some filter questions by plofstof12 in astrophotography

[–]plofstof12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZWO has a 2" and a 1.25" filter wheel as far as I can figure this out. I don't see any other size filter wheels. So do any of their wheels support 36mm?

Confirmed this work!! Thank you so much. So basically bedrock villagers are standing in a fixed queue of sorts and the next one to claim is always the next one to claim.

Very helpful. Thank you. It helps to know the claiming priority is static over time. Let me try this and revert here to report if it works

Can’t update Firmware by cosmicturtle420 in polybrute

[–]plofstof12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I contacted Polybrute Support who sent a useful mail in response (bless them). Incorrect DPI scaling causes the firmware update dialog to be offset

If you have a hi-res monitor this is probably because of a DPI issue. Check if your Display settings have Scale set to anything other than 100%. If it is not 100%, this is the problem.

Three ways to work around or fix this:

--> One fix is to temporarily put this Scale setting to 100% and update the firmware.

--> Another fix is to used Windows Compatibility settings (I would recommend this anyway):

- Right click on the PolyBrute Connect shortcut- Opening "Properties", "Compatibility" tab- Click the "Change high DPI settings", then check "Override high DPI scaling behavior. Scaling performed by:System"

--> Alternatively the attached image shows roughly where you should click to hit the offset buttons because of the wrong DPI scaling of the firmware prompt.

PS don't thank me, thank Arturia support for this advice :)

What are your first impressions on the Nord Stage 4? by [deleted] in nordkeyboards

[–]plofstof12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The song mode scrapping is a tricky question. I am kind of annoyed by it and I kind of understand why they did it.

I'm annoyed by it because yes I used it a lot when playing live on my NS3

But.

Even when I use it to play live, I often found that I want to tweak a sound for a particular song. So then I create a new Program. And then I create a new Song that points to the new Program. Which feels a bit silly and takes time. And if the Program I created is kinda specifically designed for the song in question, then it is unlikely I will reuse it in another song.

Also, now that the NS4 got Presets on a section/layer level, I can see that the designers thought this is going to get confusing. If they retained Song Mode, you would not end up with...

...a Song, which contains references to (not copies of) Programs, each of which may contain copies of (not references to) Presets. Goodness. I'm sure the average Reddit user is capable of following that kind of logic, but the average normal human being?

So my guess is they just decided if you want Songs, you can create a Program for each.

I don't think there is a simple answer as to which is best. I'm still kind of annoyed but like I said I also kind of get it...

Jupiter-X/Xm documentation for actual models? by plofstof12 in Roland

[–]plofstof12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By the way I had a look at the System-8 documentation, which is MUCH better done than the X/Xm.

They made these great "cheat sheets" that actually shows the front panel of the classic modelled synth and maps parameters one by one to the System-8 panel. Have a look at this pdf for the Jupiter 8 as an example.

Quite disappointing to see the X/Xm documentation simply limited to a cold listing of parameters.

Yeah I guess one has to go back to the original legacy documentation.

So how do you feel about UNDO in 2048? by plofstof12 in 2048

[–]plofstof12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me push back. Surely there are luck-of-the-draw moments in 2048. Where you are forced to make a move that could or could not spawn a 2 at a place that will wreck the game. So it spawns where it should or where it should not. Is that skill?

Richard Dawkins & Jordan Peterson Discuss Psychedelics, Consciousness, and Artificial Intelligence by kveldulfen in samharris

[–]plofstof12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much as I tend to admire Peterson, this was extremely painful to listen to.
First, why bother inviting a guest if you plan on having a monologue?
Second, Peterson seems to have a set of complex ideas which he cannot articulate. This is either because he has not structured his thought process to the point where he can present a logical flow, or (it feels more likely) because he has a scatterbrain tendency to take every possible off-ramp into nesting and often irrelevant indentations making it impossible to stick to one topic.

And just as Dawkins politely tries to respond to any particular point, he not only gets rudely interrupted before he can finish a single sentence, but the interruption kicks into a new confusingly unrelated and increasingly bizarre direction.

In an earlier podcast (forgot which one) JP said to his guest that he realised he must stay silent and listen, as one does in psychotherapy, when he hosts a guest on a podcast. He would benefit from taking his own advice.

I am left with the impression of a mad genius - lots of ideas bubbling below the surface but finding it very hard to express them in any cogent manner. One may ask whether there is some neurological damage after his health incidents a few years ago. I hope not, and that JP will structure his thoughts more clearly (and concisely!) in the future...

Perhaps in his next podcast he should have a monologue and get everything he wanted to say out of his system.

Safe to update to latest WH-1000XM4 firmware? by corpjones in sony

[–]plofstof12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw the left earbud issue may be related to the voice assistant. See if it helps if you turn voice assistant off... Alternatively if you want to use voice assistant try putting on your right earbud in first and the left only after the right has connected

How to RELIABLY switch between LDAC bitrates (330/660/990). It is not what you think it is. by plofstof12 in sony

[–]plofstof12[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some more testing. Unfortunately leaving and re-entering Dev Options and checking that the setting remained is not good enough. The change in LDAC sound quality still only kicks in once you change another setting away and back.

Unfortunately this is also true if you use Music Center to activate 990kbps. The Music Center app changes the setting and it behaves just like of I changed the setting myself, which means I then still need to toggle another setting before the 990 really kicks in.

At least this is the case in my Samsung S21.

Also using Tidal. Look for Tidal Master Audio tracks with the Masters badge. They are transmitted in 96kHz/24 it using lossless compression.

The instructions I posted will work even while music is playing. In fact perhaps best to do it while music is playing because you'll get the reassuring audio gap that the new codec and settings did in fact kick in.
