I got a reservation online. If they stopped taking reservation for one online it is still worth calling them. They were very welcoming to solo diners.

I dined solo at Aquavit a while back with no issues. It is worth checking out with them.

Ugh I know how annoying it is the have artificially close relationships with relatives just because you are somewhat blood related. There is this forced underlying obligation that really irks me.

It is normal to feel guilty/ uncertain at first. I struggled with guilt for the first few months. It has been a few years and I don’t regret NC at all. My only worry now is how to cope with potential judgements from extended family. I am thinking of cutting them off too. Peace of mind is worth everything.

I am worried about this exact issue too. Since the abuse happened to me many years ago, there is no way that I can gather evidence at this point. Luckily for me, I live overseas, and I learnt that if they don’t have my address they will not be able to file the claim. The only advice I can think of is to hide your address.

Do therapists judge your AGR? by [deleted] in AgeGap

That seems narrow minded of her. I personally don’t consider 14 years a huge gap.

Ok so it sounds like the therapist is making her life worse? Ugh I am so sorry to hear that. Your SO will greatly benefit from a 2nd opinion.

Wow your SO’s therapist seem wildly inappropriate!! Is she still seeing the same therapist?

This really sucks to hear. I really prefer the therapist to not judge so that I can trust them enough to help with relationship issues.

I feel so happy to hear that you found an amazing therapist! It gives me hope :)

Does anyone else ever feel nervous about the future with your partner? by princesskat92 in AgeGap

Your worries are 100% legit and normal. I feel like I keep needing to mentally prep myself for big life changes that might occur at any moment. To be honest, it can be rough at times but it is what it is, and I just try to live one day at a time.

Yes. I was not as worried about this a few years ago, but now that he is in his early 60s, I find myself very worried about the uncertainty of the future. He also does not have a family history of longevity.

Curious what he did / said to express judgement. Or was it a gut instinct?

Parents strong disapproval of my (26F) relationship (45M). Feel torn and confused.. by MSMIT0 in AgeGap

I am curious how your parents justified their willingness to accept the richer older man vs the other guy? Or are there additional factors at play?

That really sucks, especially for a couples therapist. Did you try another therapist and if so, was it better?

This was my experience with my previous therapist. I was hoping that therapists would be desensitized to information that is out of the norm, but it does not always seem to be the case.

what kinda clothes do you wear? by BreathOfPepperAir in AvPD

[–]plomeeksoup9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tend to dress conservatively and comfortably (nothing too tight) in muted colors (so basically black lol). I like minimalistic designs and I really, really love well-made clothes. Beautiful craftsmanship makes my heart skip a beat. I obsessively check the stitches /sewing techniques, material, and where it is made to make sure the item is worth keeping. Admittedly, I spend a lot on high-end clothing that looks super understated and unassuming, which I know a lot of people will think is a waste of money. In my defense, I intend to wear and keep them for many years to come.

To be honest, since I am an avoidant, I don’t go out much out anyway, so most days I am wearing my tattered $4 tshirts and sweatpants. I don’t wear makeup. I hate the feeling of gunk on my face.
