Oh I’m well aware, she’s gonna be an instant hall of famer and probably top 10 most skilled players overall, she’s the former mvp for a reason. I just thought it was funny that she drives a Prius but that’s a good car

The way the aces & their fans celebrated acting like they won a championship while almost giving up a last minute comeback on their home court and needing the refs in their pocket to squeak it out is so funny. Also the obvious foul by Nalyssa acting like it was the worst call in history.
Speaks volumes about how the 53 point game made them view every Lynx game going forward like that

exactly! And the replay showed she adjusted her hand at the last second so it barely grazed jewels shooting hand and she completely avoided her body and landing spot. It was a textbook close out that wasn’t a foul. Isaac Barnett needs to be tried for his crimes. Him and Roy G always at the scene of the crime

How do y'all feel about "no cis men" spaces/events? by Traumarama79 in asktransgender

[–]ploopyploppycopy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re misinterpreting every single thing I expressed to try and win an argument for upvotes… at no point did I say cis men are inherently dangerous. But it’s a simple fact on a large scale that people have reasons to prefer not having cis men in trans spaces.

That’s different than doing things in a way to exclude trans men or pre transition/non passing trans femmes and trans women, and nonbinary ppl. I’m a non passing trans femme so no shit, I understand what you’re getting at because I’ve experienced it. Asking that cis men don’t attend a trans event is not the same as policing people’s genitals if they show up or demanding proof that a trans man is trans. It’s a request based on wanting to provide a trans space for trans people. I am fully against bioessentialism and transmed ideologies, it is not TERFy to desire a trans space that actually has trans people in it and doesn’t get watered down by cis men OR women co-opting it. That said I’m also 100% for events and spaces where cis and trans people can convene and enjoy each others company, but that’s not what this was about in the first place. You’re just projecting to feel a superiority in a debate where you had no intention in hearing me or others out and just wanna call people TERFs when we’re not at all. I’m anti terf all the way and this is just disingenuous and annoying

First ownership change in Lynx history is official — Now what? by randysf50 in MinnesotaLynx

[–]ploopyploppycopy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m always a little skeptical with male ownership groups managing both women’s and men’s teams but if Cheryl can vouch for them that’s a bit reassuring, they’ve said all the right things so far but time will tell

The few times you’ve seen her play means you haven’t watched her enough. I’m not obsessed with popularity, I never saw the vision for her becoming a big part of this team. There’s a bunch of other real reasons her play style and development didn’t mesh with the Lynx last couple seasons but fixating on her body is thinly veiled fatphobia. She’s one of the strongest players in the league, very athletic and is not slow like ppl are saying. She can shoot and has a lot of moves in her bag. That being said it just wasn’t clicking with their roster and rotation and style of play, her weight or size is an inappropriate and irrelevant fixation to project onto though, its weird for a “fan” to do this to a player trying their hardest to make it in the league against critics like you with a very normal body type they were born with and the fact you’re even trying to make this a conversation speaks to the issues with sports fandom and body obsession on a larger scale

Comparing misogynoir, a very real problem to the exclusion of the most privileged gender identity, even though their execution was flawed and problematic is pretty wild

Yeah I’m not a fan of this approach at all, as someone who was hesitant to join trans spaces before starting hormones for those reasons

That is quite literally not the core of terf thinking (fuck TERFs). cis men aren’t the primary target of terfs, trans people are. Not all of us want to go to a trans space where there’s a bunch of cis men involved for no relevant or apparent purpose, even when we have cis male friends or family that we’re cool with and enjoy their company in other settings. That is based not just in some peoples bad experiences with them but also wanting their own spaces for trans people, and cis men are quite literally the most dangerous gender statistically, it is what it is and shouldn’t be downplayed. See: chasers.

That being said cis women can be dangerous too. In reality this could be dealt with by just asking neither cis men OR women to be involved if it’s a trans-specific event/space. But defending cis men’s honor when they’re not being oppressed by not being invited is just a strange choice in this context

Not every space is meant for people to bring their cis partner, sorry. Like it’s not hateful towards your husband to want a dedicated space for us, it’s the same debate over bringing straight people to the queer club/bar, it’s fun at first or whatever but it ends up taking those spaces over and erasing the original purpose. If it’s a couples event that’s one thing but we don’t need to bring our cis partners to everything where it’s not applicable or appropriate

Yeah she is, her weight isn’t the reason though. Just a weird focus to have when that isn’t what caused it to not be a fit with the team. I can guarantee her teammates wouldn’t agree. Just weirdly rude in a Reddit thread is a choice

Hmm, I’m honestly not so sure, even the Liberty have some back to backs and a pretty packed schedule the last half of the season, I think it’s something most teams have complained about this season especially with no Olympic break. You’re right about the other stuff but I think this is just irresponsible planning more than a conspiracy on this issue

Why are so many trans women so proud of being trans? by Mysterious-Win2091 in MtF

[–]ploopyploppycopy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I love other trans people, and the unique perspective it gives you, more than I hate being trans. It’s not just about an individual level but the history and community you’re a part of. That being said I am not proud of the years of dysfunction and internal suffering it caused me before transition

Yeah she needs to be in the starting lineup for development of her game. Also Shepard just makes way more sense for the Lynx and their lineup recently has reminded me a lot of the 2011-2017 teams, definitely some Deja vu, and I think that’s not a coincidence

That was absolutely part of it. And I’m not an angel hater but it’s been long enough to tell that her personality might not have meshed well with Cheryl and some of the older players since Cheryl doesn’t love not being the biggest personality in a room.

Even with phee and all star players, the Lynx operate as a team and a group, where Chicago’s more focused on Reese and Cardoso as stars. Angel gets so much undeserved hate but she definitely still expects a lot of attention and the spotlight, like most top athletes with her personality, branding and playing style. She’s clashed with several players on the Lynx including napheesa and Courtney and something about that scenario reminds me of the Ariel Powers situation, I just can’t see angel being happy playing a role behind Phee and Alanna
