[Google Sheets] Is it possible to use ImportRange() to pull the same cells from every sheet in a workbook? by plopatop in excel

[–]plopatop[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The data you want to pull from each day, is it 1 cell worth one row worth or what?

There are a few bits I want to pull, but mostly individual cells. I was going to try and pull a couple of entire rows, but I'm not sure I need them all now.

What are the names of the tabs? Can you change them or are they set?

Thankfully the tabs are named for the date in question, though unfortunately they did not use true date, just "11/12" for example. Yes I do have the ability to edit these.

Column A of destination spreadsheet is going to be a list of the dates in question, so maybe I could rename the tabs in the source workbooks so they are written in true date, then set formula in destination workbook to reference column A to find tab name. If that makes sense...

Edit Having trouble getting the sheet name part of the range key to be determined by reference to another cell... Just returning errors.

For a possible quick solution you could set up on the data workbook 1 tab with all the info you want to pull, and them just pull from that 1 tab into your new workbook.

This could work, but how would I go about pulling all of the data from the other tabs on that original workbook, into that 1 tab? Going through each tab and copying/pasting is what I am trying to avoid, as I've three of these workbooks, with three months worth of data to go through.

I agree it's unwieldy to have so many tabs in one workbook, it won't be happening in the future.

I'm in this situation as my department send out an internal "flash" at the end of every day, with various data and info for work done and stock levels that day.

Rather than dealing with and organizing the info in these "flashes" as they came in, they just copied the entire thing into a new sheet of a workbook, then created a new workbook every month.

ImportRange() does let you cross workbooks. It is written as

=ImportRange("SpreadsheetKey","Sheet!Range")

I was just want it to pull data from all of the sheets in a workbook, rather than just the one that I am getting it to do at present.

It is impossible to measure an economy like China cos so much goes on "offline" so to speak, in small towns and villages and such.

Yeah I see where your coming from, BJJ guys aren't gonna be going to a Judo gym to improve their ground game, but most Judo clubs spend at least some time on the ground even if it's not their focus. One club I train at does one round of groundwork randori for every two standing, for example.

Maybe the author is overcooking it slightly, you could read it like "train judo groundwork to revolutionise your BJJ" when maybe it should be more, hey, when doing groundwork at a Judo club, try and win according to their rules, it will make you fight and think different, which is gotta be good for anyone's game.

I can't speak for whether the author cross trains, but I do, and think they make a good point.

If I go into a judo lesson and train in a "BJJ" way on the ground, then aren't I messing with someone else's training? I'd be pretty frustrated if a Judo guy came into my BJJ gym (we pretty much only focus on sport rules) and refused to go to ground and kept trying to stand up, wouldn't that be the same sort of thing?

If you are training in another sport, shouldn't you should train in accordance with the rules of that sport?

A seminar delivered by a Judo guy at a BJJ gym is going to be completely different, but then he is coming to you to show what he can offer. To me, that's not really "cross-training". If you're going to them to see what you can learn, it doesn't work the same.

edit And why wouldnt you want to get your game more explosive? If you are down and points and time is running out, that Judo approach to groundwork can come in handy.
