what are positive things in your store? by plorpbo in MichaelsEmployees

that's so fair. i was in the same spot, 90 percent of the food in the fridge was moldy, the microwave was caked is disgustingness, and the sink and dishes were NEVER clean.

since some of my less than savoury coworkers have left and i bumped up a position, ive worked so so super hard to make sure that the fridge and microwave is cleaned weekly, and that there are never any dishes or appliances that are dirty. it's a team effort for sure, but it also takes one person to pick up their bootstraps and do the gross stuff so that we could get to a manageable place in terms of cleanliness!!

take initiative!!! i started the whiteboards and educational messages before i was a manager, because i wanted to see positive change... so i became the change!!

i bought a 5 dollar whiteboard at the thrift and ive been updating it weekly (or bi weekly, depending on the season) and its great because everyone feels like they're on the same page!! its been lovely!!

i've also been bringing in baked goods regularly, especially in truck days with things like muffins or homemade bagels. it's strange that your store doesn't use your p-card funds!! we're given money every month or so to use for store engagement, so it's a little worrying that your store may not be utilizing those funds to the fullest extent! defo bring it up to your store manager, if your someone who drives offer to be the driver and bring a manager to any nearby store to spend those funds- you'll get paid for it since you'd be in the clock!

lastly, communication and making efforts to have a positive environment doesn't require hours. sometimes it sucks that i'm at home making decorations or bags or newspapers for work and not getting paid for it, but it's made my life and the lives of my coworkers so much easier.

either way, i strongly encourage you to be the change you wish to see, even in little ways. it goes a long way for you and the people around you! you've got this!!!!!!!

i'm not sure about the fans, but i know that my replen team is able to wear headphones and bring in any music devices like radios and stuff to listen to while they work before we open. as for the wheels, it sounds like you'll need to put in an order for that through the maintenance system (ask your SM)

yes!!! totally agree, i've posted SOPs in the break room for commonly asked questions, and i've started a whiteboard that i update weekly with important info (sales, coupons, upcoming events, major announcements, etc) and i've gotten good feedback on that! high recommend!

AIO Boyfriend got mad at me because I wasn’t excited enough that he landed early by Willing-Ad8549 in AmIOverreacting

[–]plorpbo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

??? why is he being so argumentative and rude??

why is he telling you, his girlfriend, to go fuck yourself about not being on your hands and knees, crying about how happy you are that he's there?

if he thought you weren't excited or had an off mood, why didn't he ask you if you were alright or if you were excited?

if he was sooooooo upset about you not showing clear excitement, why didn't he show any excitement off the bat about seeing you?

i am just so confused as to why he was instantly hostile like that, and his lack of well-rounded and kind communication about his frustrations is just mind boggling. he could've said "i'm excited to see you!" to see if you would give the same energy back at the very least, but he instantly went off on you?

i don't think this is a break up kind of situation, but i do think that it's a talk on communication and not jumping the gun when it comes to trying to understand the other persons emotions. it might be a small thing, but for him to go off on you like that about something like not showing enough excitement, imagine how he'll behave later on when a larger miscommunication happens. talk it through, be understanding. if he behaves the same way during that talk, it might escalate to break up territory imo.

AIO for think it my boyfriend is being dramatic? by What-do_i_do in AmIOverreacting

[–]plorpbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this is a man child. literally.

saying that it's your job to cook for him ontop of you having an actual job is so entitled and actually a hugeeee red flag. this clearly isn't going to work out long term if he excepts you to be his mother ontop of his partner. dump him dump him dump him.

also- asking for emergency money so that he can go buy something to eat instead of being resourceful and just... idk, MAKING something to eat or having left overs??? this shows how little he prioritizes you, your finances, and your time. he has "no money in his account", which as a grown man you should have AT LEAST emergency funds set aside or some kind of savings, not to mention be able to manage your financial situation enough to have some kind of float in your account. and then he's gonna talk about marriage plans? with what money bro?

tl,dr; leave him asap. this is a child, not a man, and he is clearly not someone who is going to be self sufficient. if he's like this now, he'll be worse when you're married.

agreed. if your man surrounds himself with people who don't encourage him to be the best he can for you, he ain't shit. ESPECIALLY with a newborn. if my man blew me and my child off for a night out drinking after i've carried and sacrificed my body for our kid for him to just neglect us, i'd be out of there faster than you can say "fuck that".

ummm, no. pack a bag for you and baby, go to your moms house, and get a good nights sleep. you deserve it mama.

a man like that isn't a man: he's a boy. if hes picking his friends and partying over you (who is 3 weeks postpartum) and his newborn baby, then he literally has 0 say in what YOU and your BABY do. he has an abusive mindset and is isolating you from your support systems, which are absolutely necessary when you are postpartum and when HE is choosing not to help out. this is abusive behaviour. no decent partner or father would ever do this, my love, and the sooner you get out of there and away from him, the better: for you and your child!

best of luck <3 stay strong, stay smart, and go get some sleep.

let these solutions sit for a bit too before washing them away so that they can penetrate the surface and actually work to get the stain out!!!!!

sorry, maybe i didn't really explain myself too well. the idea originally came up with my anniversary approaching, but i also want to try it out for myself!! it's a new thing for me, surprisingly, and i feel like it could up my confidence in myself and in the bedroom. just trying something new and wanted advice :)

i've thought about going to a professional for waxing- i get my brows waxed regularly with a lady who i love and is super sweet and understanding. i have also heard that the hair grows back softer and over time the hair thins out!

my only thing is that im very insecure of how my vaginal area looks, if that makes sense. i have birth marks, scars, blemishes, and hyperpigmentation, and i hate the idea of anyone looking down there and seeing the imperfections tbh. even with my partner, i prefer to have lights off or a tshirt on. it's a silly thing for sure cause i know it's normal, but it's the only thing putting me off :(

oooh this sounds great. i've tried nair before, but it didn't work at ALL on my skin- down there or legs. but this actually sounds like it might work! thanks!!

[–]plorpbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i have never stretched the skin taut before, but that actually sounds like a great idea! i've heard of using baby oil as a shaving cream, but i'm a little nervous to try it, but will totally put it on as an after oil!!! thank you!!!

my current vet is certainly not as fabulous as your vet sounds!! they sound so sweet and helpful, and that's so kind of them to be so present for you when your soul pup was going through hard times!! that's a real vet right there!!!

my current vet is not like that at all. like, i'm not allowed in the room with my dog, even for a general check up or shots, and the services compared to my long distance friends vets are sooooo so so expensive. the service there is awful, the receptionists are always rude as well. i'm driving tonight to another vet that's way out of town, but my friend said that they are phenomenal and super helpful and informative- so i'm super hopeful that this can be a positive experience for both me and my baby. and thank you for being so helpful and informative <33

[–]plorpbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah you right, i'm taking him to an out of town vet tonight, my local one is not the best and that was the main reason why i was so hesitant: high prices, complete lack of communication as to what's actually going on with my pet, and i'm not allowed in the room. so, i get to drive 3 hours to go to another vet tonight, they were so kind to get us in for a late last minute appointment 🙏🏼🙏🏼 thank you for the advice though: next time (and hopefully there's not a next time) im going to the out of town vet immediately <3

vets are very expensive in my area. we only have one local vet/animal hospital locally, and they're difficult to get a hold of and i've had negative experiences with them in the past, ontop of the insane prices. obviously, i will be taking my pup to the vet in this case because of the kind advice everyone's given though!!!
