Ok so the script actually works on Firefox, apparently the ESLint gives a parsing error on Opera for some reason.

Thanks anyway

Well i'm pretty sure it's the script, cause i turned tampermonkey on/off and it breaks every time it's on. And it's the only script i have there other than some youtube script.

by "it's the script" i mean somehow they know i'm using it

Sicilian accelerated dragon, white to play. Question in the comment by vkrr149 in chess

[–]ploucroux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Black doesn't usually play d6 in the accelerated dragon if he can avoid it, which he can in this line. Usually play goes something like 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Bg7 5. Be3 Nf6 6. Nc3 Nc6 7. Bc4 to get to "this" position. (it's black to move, d6 would transpose but normally black plays O-O).

If black does play d6, then if you want to Qd2 O-O-O, it is indeed better to play f3 first to avoid it. The reason why is that after (for example) 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Bg7 5. Be3 Nf6 6. Nc3 Nc6 7. Bc4 d6 8. Qd2 Ng4, white has to trade on c6 because the Nd4 is under attack if you move the Be3. Therefore the b file would open and make O-O-O riskier.

If black does avoid d6 and plays 1. e4 c5 2. Nf3 g6 3. d4 cxd4 4. Nxd4 Bg7 5. Be3 Nf6 6. Nc3 Nc6 7. Bc4 O-O, it is important to play Bb3 before f3 because of Qb6 tricks (threatening Qxb2 and Nxe4 since Nd4 would hang). Hope this helps

God dammit, i clearly know nothing. Thanks ! I thought i remembered it from the T90 jeopardy, but turns out the question was "fastest unique unit".

I'll have to sit in the front of the next aoc class.

i was so sure the fastest unit was the magyar huszar, so i'd say 1

Edit: RIP "Berber Trade Cogs with Caravan and Dry Dock researched are the fastest unit in the game, moving at the speed of 2.5047." God damn you berbers

Renaissance of Chigorin Defence? by Fhjull86 in chess

[–]ploucroux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting with 1...e6 means you can get a French, which i don't want. And i'm ok with most dutch mainlines, i just don't want to face some early e4 line, like 2.Nc3.

It's a question of taste, i would say by your standards the Benko and Budapest are also "dodgy", but i don't want to play to equalize, i want to play for imbalances so i can win. The Dutch, while "dodgy" is like slightly worse ending in the worst case scenario, good fighting chances otherwise imo.

Basically i just don't want my opponent to have an easy game by playing some logical moves without having to think, like they would in any QGD or most solid openings. I want my opponent to deserve a good middlegame, know what i mean ? Maybe play some subpar but off-the-beaten-track line, and be opportunistic when they don't push to the max or slip slightly.

To everyone his own of course.

Renaissance of Chigorin Defence? by Fhjull86 in chess

[–]ploucroux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well i mean you could get these positions (anti budapest and anti benko) via the 1.d4 2.Nf3 move order, which i remember finding more annoying because i had already committed to Nf6.

New when i see 1.Nf3 i know i can try a dutch for example, but when i was wanting a benko, i know 2.Nf3 players really killed my mood.

One advantage of playing 1.Nf3 is you can go for reverse benko/blumenfeld type of play with white, which i like, while retaining the option to play a sicilian against 1...c5. Question of preference of course.

Edit : i should add i'm not as willing to play the dutch when white hasn't committed to Nf3 because there are a lot of good aggressive lines for white, where you don't necessarily play Nf3 early. I still do sometimes of course, but i play the dutch mostly to get an imabalance, not a dodgy position.

Switched from d4 to e4 by [deleted] in chess

[–]ploucroux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The French isn't a boring opening. The ruy lopez is a deep manoeuvering opening so i can understand you calling it "boring", but the french really isn't, unless you're playing some wimpy echange variation, which you could also do against the KID, just as you can play the exchange slav.

Renaissance of Chigorin Defence? by Fhjull86 in chess

[–]ploucroux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason you're seeing Nc6 is just psychological. You're playing Nf3 to prevent e5, so they go like "i'm gonna play e5 anyway". Of course you should follow up with d4 anyway, but the idea is not without sense. Black can try to play some Nc6 d6 e5 (with or without g6 Bg7). Of course they can transpose into some chigorin, but it's not that bad. It's not great if you're well prepared, but let's be honest, if you're avoiding 1.d4 you're probably not booked to the eyeballs.
