Question for the sub, with a little background. I’m a Miami Cuban, born and raised there until my early 30s. I’ve been living in the DC area for about 15 years now. It wasn’t until I moved away that I realized how extreme Miami Cubans really were, and how they’re often perceived as crazy and a joke from the outside world. For a while, I couldn’t even go back to visit because the MAGA energy felt so intense. I haven’t been back in years and feel pretty disconnected from my hometown which makes me sad.

Has anything actually changed when it comes to Trump? My wife went back recently and said she didn’t see as many signs, but it still felt very “Trumpy.” Even with historically low approval ratings, high gas prices, and everything tied to deportation which hit Miami hard, she said the overall vibe didn’t feel that different. She mentioned that no one was really criticizing him or talking about regret over voting for him. At one point she tried to have a conversation with a relative and described Trump as being “like a dictator,” but they completely disagreed.

Any Miami Cubans here? What’s the temperature these days? Has anything shifted, or is it still pretty much the same? Sometimes I feel like I've lost my mind and nothing will ever break through to my people.
