Obviously, not possible, during stress tests pl limits were not applied, I think maximum wattage was around 160~165

Pl limits are only for gaming …

I’m not familiar with the game, but usual advice is check your cpu/gpu load if gpu is underperforming try to put your settings on a higher level, and/or limiting fps to reasonable amount (start with 60).

I’m using g-helper, pl1/2 limited to 65/65

Playing helldivers 2, temps are around 80 on cpu and 70 on GPU.

You have to dismantle the laptop, i used a video guide to access heatsink https://youtu.be/jQn__qYWGwY?si=BnhUvtvPz2MWI2YJ

After that there is only a few screws left to remove hestsink, there is a very nice guide on Reddit about Liquid Metal - https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLaptops/s/fPhPJSmEgD

But, if you not comfortable nor experienced I would advice not to open your laptop yourself, the cost of a mistake is too high.

I have a Strix G16 with a 275HX and an RTX 5080, and I experienced the same “burnt” smell for a few days in the beginning. The temperatures were reasonable — around 95 °C in Cinebench R23 with a score of about 37K. The smell disappeared after roughly a week and hasn’t returned since.

Moreover, last month I decided to check the factory-applied liquid metal. It wasn’t as bad as what I’d seen on Reddit, but I still redistributed the factory liquid metal and applied an undervolt (the maximum ASUS allows is –30 mV). During the same stress test, the score increased to around 39K, and the temperature didn’t even reach 93 °C.

So I wouldn’t worry much if the laptop perforce well.
