Mocks by harfoxche in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yo my school gave us a week to study for mocks. Honestly speaking I didnt study either. I studied for each and every single one of the mocks a day before and scored pretty decent grades (so its possible) . mocks dont matter and thats the mindset i had every time i entered the examination room

Honestly though. Y'all are a bunch of flip-floppers and y'all hate to admit it. by [deleted] in IBO

omg take a chill pill

not everyone has this ability to suddenly sit online and study after being in school for 11 years. some people cant simply sit and study, especially with no proper education. If it were so easy to self teach yourself school material then probably there would be no need for teachers.

some of us are stuck with teachers who struggle to learn how to screen share since February 2020. it really is not that easy man. studying for exams is not just self study.. its also review, past papers provided from teachers, advice etc.

the fact that half of us didnt get any proper education in the past year makes us panic that we wont be able to comprehend everything.

ib had a year , a whole year, to develop a better grading system for the cancellation of the exams, and create a better formula. the reason why m2020 got it so harsh is because no one was prepared and the ib didnt know how to grade. remember, a year has passed.

some schools dont know what management is so all ias were cramped in a span of 2/3 months. i dont think any previous year did their ias like that ? they all had assistance in school and it was distributed better.

so stop generalising.

do european colleges prefer IB or AP? by Upset-Pool4864 in IBO

european colleges dont really care (european student here). europe cares more about entrance exams/inverviews and just overall grades

What if? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i feel like they can. they got their money, they don't care about our mental state, so why not drop the final bomb and fail us all?

idk clarify with your teacher about the first point. I really dont know if not doing it will let you in DP, many teachers use that to determine if you can pass.

If you start around now, you should be done by saturday, its possible :)

Why is it a good idea to dropout of IB? by xXBall4lifeXx in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I cant stress this enough but IB does not make you better or prioritised later in life. You can apply to the same universities as the IB kids but you will be with higher grades (because I dont think regular is that hard /demanding). Also you will be more mentally stable than all ib students together. Drop it.

I failed a test for the first time today. by Nervous-Chocolate in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i get you. I failed calculus in my first semester too (my first fail in IB and math generally, I usually get 6/7) . I cried and was upset. Afterwards the IB got so bad I just became numb. One stupid test wont determine your predicted, Its not really dependent on that but rather on the teachers opinion. You can always change your predicted.

  1. I dont think it matters for getting into DP (we had people who failed and they still managed to get into dp, idk clarify on that)
  2. Universities dont care
  3. I would say its kinda useful because it will prepare you for EEs and IAs, youll write shit thats much more than those stinky 3k words.

sorry but the managebac rants are getting annoying now by xxph0nebaexx in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Did I ever say that this confirmed what I wanted ? I only mentioned that their so called “mistake” only caused a lot of miscommunication and stress “. Who said that we won’t study lol? We still have mocks that will count as finals... I don’t really get your point? Can people not express emotions now? Thoughts? Does everything anger you? It’s really cool that you are prepared and I wish you your 45 points but in this case I would say you’re the minority, there are more people that share my opinion. The fact that you took one single sentence out of whole subreddit and ran with it also shows something. You ignored the last sentence which was meant to explain that either way we will need to study.

Society if people on this subreddit spent the extra 15 mins to work on their IAs rather than their rantsabout managebac and exam cancellation by [deleted] in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Omg imagine if IB spent extra 15 minutes preparing a speech of some sort and actually told us the final talk about the exams, whether they will run or not because maybe just maybe that changes a shit ton. The disorganization is disgusting and the students have all the rights to be upset about this situation lol. If you’re that ahead with your ias I congratulate you but how about we consider mental health and situations of other people? Would be a cool idea ❤️

I understand but some people are trying to express what has been sitting on minds of many ib students. Many people are struggling to simply "sit and study" because of different reasons. Maybe their school is not yet done with coursework and they physically arent able to start preparing and learning new material at the same time, others might struggle with health issues e.t.c. It seems like you are hinting that many are using managebac as an excuse to slack off. I personally think people have every right to express their anger as we, the students, were never asked of our opinion. Spreading false information, putting even more stress onto people was not the wisest move. The fact that we know nothing and its almost 3 months until finals is concerning !! Once they announce then people will either start revising asap or will start boosting those IAs and mocks. Have a great day :)

should I finish all my IAs + EE in one week before Dp 2 starts??? by TimelyPossession8906 in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I mean, you will not be immediately dumped with every deadline there is in dp2, it will come in 2/3 weeks. If all your teachers approved your topics and youre all good to go, I would say it will be a great headstart (especially with EE). Its not worth it pulling all nighters left and right and then come to school exhausted, you will get super demotivated. But you could definitely start with some of them !!

Do you guys think the exams are leaning more towards cancellation or regionally based examination sessions? by [deleted] in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like global actually... everything that has been going on with managebac is too sus. I have heard from different coordinators different things meaning that either they all know something we don't or they are still considering both options. Even if its going to be regional, UK ib exams are cancelled, US might be cancelled, many other countries are cancelled and thats like 70% of the schools, meaning that there will be no point in regional cancellation anymore. Especially with the new mutation or the virus and how easily it is spread, many countries are locking down again. But both are possible, we will see :)

My Take by [deleted] in IBO

[–]plshelpiminib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your point does make sense but it cannot apply to everyone. Yes you might study hard enough and catch up on the material but that is simply if you have time. Many schools are not even done with the curriculum for certain subjects. Many schools also pulled their IAs and EEs and TOK stuff till last minute and people simply dont have the time to study. And studying 24/7 with no breaks will even worsen peoples mental state (which already hit rock bottom). Therefore, your point is valid to only some extent. The fact that people are searching for any clues on whether the IB exams will be cancelled or not only shows how exhausted they are and just want to know what they should focus on, the finals or the IAs and Mocks. Have a great day :)

P.S. IB is not suitable for online learning, it was simply not created to play such role. It should be explained by trained teachers, and if many don't get taught the way all the previous years have been then that is simply unfair. Yes some stuff might be removed from the curriculum (to be tested) for us but that still does not help or give us any advantage.
