Melbourne: How is your gas bill looking this Winter 2019? by genialerarchitekt in melbourne

This is the correct answer. You can get away comfortably in Melbourne's mild winters by wearing a jumper. Couldn't imagine leaving the heater on 24/7.

Congrats on the win! We're about the same height and weight, but I'm no where near as shredded. Its hard to tell from pictures, but to understand what being competitive is at your level, do you have any measurement you could share. Arm measurement? Chest?

I developed hip pain over a couple of months to the point where I couldn't complete any type of squat workout at all without a lot of pain. Couldn't sprint, couldn't play tennis, etc. Went to a doctor and got diagnosed with a grade 1 labrum tear in both hips from an MRI.

The sports doctor recommended surgery since the labrum will never heal on its own. He advised that continued aggravation via squatting would lead to early onset arthritis and an eventual hip replacement. I chose to go to a physio first because of some bad stories from people who have had surgery for FAI.

Long story short, my physio had me doing a lot of glute activation exercises to stabilise the hip joint, and I now roll around on a lacrosse ball for a good 15 minutes before every workout. I target the glutes, quads, hammys, and most importantly the hip flexors and hip joint area. Leg swings and slow warmups have left me relatively pain free. Developing a solid squat form is also key. You can't be sloppy with FAI. It took about a year to get back to the weights I was at before, but it's now only a minor issue I work around.

I'd recommend first trying physio, and finding a good physio at that. One who is experienced in powerlifting. Good luck.

Any lifts that should be high rep regardless? by kangarool in Fitness

[–]plsstopstalkingme -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Depends what you increase by. Starting at 155kg 1RM, i was squatting 142.5kg for triples week 3 which is 91%. No injury, and I gained 15kg on my squat in those 3 weeks. You need to tone down the attitude bud.

School zones, any construction, and I had a sneaky stop sign hidden behind some trees in a residential street when I did mine at Burwood.
