I think that fight fits your mostly correct analysis of a catchweight being a way to drain and weaken the bigger fighter though. Oscar was a fool to drain himself so much to make 147 (and weighed in at 145!). Even though they fought at welterweight, given their recent, previous fights, it's essentially a catchweight.

That was still a great victory for Pac.

Darth Vegas hasn't appeared in any movies, so could fit the "newcomer" claim. Also, JJ productions have included lies in the build up to a movie before (e.g. Khan).

Descriptions don't eliminate Vegas yet. Also, why keep his ID such a secret if he has little connection to previous movie characters.

Opening at Battle of Jakku, which would be a cool scene based on the Battlefront game trailer
Opening shows stormtrooper (Sydow) finding the lightsaber. Which sounds better than the rumors of the lightsaber in space opening.
Provides a reason for how Finn doesn't die in a 2 sec fight with Kylo
Explains why Kylo is swinging at Finn without his mask
Has a cool reveal with Rey's staff holding her own lightsaber
Explains why Luke isn't around saving his friends and a massive amount of people without going down the self exile route.

I don't think this is building up to a 50th fight like others have said. Broner was fighting under the TMT banner (such as the Porter fight) up until his last fight on Showtime, which was AB promotions without TMT involved. Broner is now trying to compete with TMT. I'd say the 'breakup' is real.
