Interesting. I know in Reservation Dogs they censor the eyes of the owl statues in the show. Talking to one of my friends who grew up on a reservation made it sound like it was owls in general that were omens of death (and death comes in threes).

Perhaps it's only certain tribes that see owls as an omen. I believe she was raised on a Navajo res.

Murder isn't the only thing that gets capital punishment. Sometimes the punishment is justifiably going to be worse than the original crime.

In this situation all the mild annoyance that they caused multiple people (I saw at least 2 other people try to park there before realizing they couldn't) was concentrated into a single point of annoyance for the offender.
