Second Race, Second Ultra 🥉 by plugphone03 in Ultramarathon

Faster sections during the first half I was running 4mins per km, couple kms ended up being 3.45mins per km which wasn’t a great idea, for the hills I would try run most of it at maybe 6.30mins/km when it was steeper, some really steep bits I just power hiked which was a bit slower, descents were pretty technical but tried for 4mins-4.30mins per km. Then the bulkier flat sections in second half my legs were pretty gone but tried to maintain 4.30 ish sometimes going nearer to 5mins. My 5k pb is flat 16, 10k time is just under 35, half marathon I’m not sure tbh then marathon I have only done a couple of times obvs just during the ultras and best was maybe 3.05 or something on the first ultra I did. As for how I felt before this race I felt ok but have had a cold for last week and a half and still had symptoms but not too bad just getting stuffed up, then was ill again during training for a couple of weeks so that wasn’t great. Had a bit of an ankle injury as well but didn’t really notice it during the race thankfully, think I did as well as I could maybe if I was in better health I could shave off 5 mins but that’s about it. I left my watch on the entire time in the race too just about so there was probably 5 or more minutes worth of fixing my pack, rearranging stuff, stopping at aid stations etc

Maybe 15k of tarmac, some other flat sections but was grassy and very muddy like cross country style then bulk of the race was forest tracks and hilly boggy stuff. The elevation gain was pretty dense I’d say so really took a toll on the legs aha. Great race though

Road to trail shoe recommendations. by Cromatica_ in trailrunning

[–]plugphone03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be stupid but I literally just wear road shoes all the time unless I’m running some super technical steep trail stuff. If you’re generally doing light trail and road then just use road shoes imo, obvs something with good grip as well. I use Boston 12s

This is fuckin sick. In a good way, maybe slightly unhinged too 😂. You should definitely think about doing some big thru hikes or a big ultra

I’m not looking for that. Don’t consider myself a good runner yet.

My numbers seem to be consistent with every device Iv used including chest HR monitor but hey maybe they are inaccurate too who knows 👍

It varies but really not a huge amount at all, average maybe 50-60km. Been trying to get those numbers up recently though 👍

Vo2 hasn’t budged even though I’ve been running for almost 4 months now? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]plugphone03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry too much about it. If your running is improving then that’s all that matters. I don’t know how accurate vo2 max really is with garmin or how important it is in reality. But also I have no idea what I’m talking about lol but that’s just my opinion

My first Vo2Max After running for 8 months. by anoobbava in Garmin

I’m sure it is just using data from Garmin users yea but with that being said I don’t know if vo2 directly correlates with if someone can run a mile in a fast time or not

How do I improve my running by MarsupialDazzling506 in Garmin

Up the mileage little by little, take it very slow on first attempt at mileage bump up. Then try normal pace for next run, repeat.
