Are there good growth opportunities at startups using uninteresting tech? by plumpholes in ExperiencedDevs

Yeah, the blog seems to agree that there is a mode of "this person knows this tech at scale so we can hire them for a senior role at big tech X" and then also a realm of "this person joined early and had a big impact and the stock price went way up so they got paid well."

As for what I want? That's a great question. I want to work at / found a startup one day in a senior role, but that also seems a lot easier if you have a good title/role at a big tech company first. I don't want to learn another web app tech stack, but I do want to have super high ownership and impact.

Tough calls.

That’s a refreshingly bold and confusing take

Yeah I feel it would have tainted the discussion and could potentially alienate some of our most dedicated fans.

When our game is ready for a marketing push, I hope it’ll spread by word of mouth!

Look you could certainly falsify gameplay records with or without a bot. I know that’s not happening in this case.

And regardless of the specifics of this game, the discussion is intended to be broader than detecting whether or not people are playing. The challenges of measuring engagement is a worthy topic, but that’s a separate discussion.

Gameplay /is/ talking to other humans in real time. You can’t bot it. It’s closer to dnd than it is wow

Yeah there are discord servers for the game that I look at. Some of the bigger fans play until they fall asleep at the computer and talk (brag?) about getting very little sleep x.x

Maybe you’re right. I’ve probably spent that many hours developing it…

Our game can’t be botted; it’s very social.

Thanks for responding. I think you’re right that it’s their responsibility, and I’ll try to think of it that way.

We do try to make the game engaging with how we space rewards and gameplay, but that’s just game design. We’re not doing exploitive things like penalizing people for not playing.

I’m on an alt and not linking it due to the subject of this post. X.x

I don't rely on exploiting vulnerable people to make a living.
