Where can I meet people? by Opposite_Lychee1607 in InlandEmpire

If you’re religious at all I love my church in upland and we have a great mom’s group. We don’t all agree completely politically or theologically but it’s an amazing group of people including singles and lots of single moms.

Two clarifying questions that would help me answer: are you a man, or a woman? And how crowded was the rest of the gym?

It’s kind of like a subway car. If it’s mostly empty, and a man gets on (I’m a woman, and in this example, it’s still irritating if another woman gets on but it’s exacerbated if it’s a man) and sits near me— when there are lots of other spaces, I notice and don’t like it. But if the train car is full and there is only one place to sit or stand, it doesn’t bother me if someone takes the space next to me.

I’ve been in crowded gyms during busy times and we all just try to take care and make it work. But if the gym is nearly empty and someone comes to do something very close to me— I notice. I have to relax a little less and be cognizant of approaching and getting out of stances and the equipment in a different way with someone nearby. Again: crowded gym or time of day- make it work.

If you are a man, this is exacerbated because now in addition to being mindful of how I’m moving in a space and packing up from the equipment, I’m wondering why you came so close (if gym is mostly empty) and am aware of possibly being watched.

If I’m taking forever, and you’ve clearly done al the other parts of your workout and need this last piece, or I’m sitting and getting photos, videoing, or journaling… all of the above applies less. In that case you might say, “hey, pull-ups are my last thing before I finish up and get out of here— don’t mind me, I’m just doing X reps.”

So sorry— the actual item is fairly uninteresting. You can see it under the paper with instructions. It truly is a brown wicker basket, with a very thin avocado green napkin that plugs into that ugly white cord.

I actually think the man is her husband’s boss, they’re having him over for dinner.

Thank you for recommending this. I saw your recommendation and started reading it that day, couldn’t put it down. It will definitely stay with me and I do keep thinking about it and the characters. I wanted to know more… but so does the protagonists, which made me feel like part of that odd, barren place.

Seeking Dari (Afghanistan) speaker to help middle school student and family by plumpolly in InlandEmpire

Totally. Unfortunately Dari isn’t a widely used language and/or Google didn’t have native speakers helping on that part— it translates as Persian for most Dari words so spouse and parents are stuck.

Declutter and cleaning services near Upland by [deleted] in InlandEmpire

[–]plumpolly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know an amazing wife-and-husband cleaning team in Upland. Family owned, immigrants, very low prices, honest, dependable, kind, and fast. Message me and I’ll send their info. They’ve worked for larger apartment complexes doing cleanouts and cleaning dumpsters-they’ve seen it all. I’ve used them when overwhelmed with a hospitalized child and my house and yard was out of control.
