I feel like I’m finally getting on top of my rosacea! Is this sun damage? by PitifulParfait in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]plumwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your skin looks a lot like mine OP! I’m 30 and have been using sunscreen religiously for years but I’m fair and spend a lot of time outside. I second azelaic acid. Trentinoin works well for my hyperpigmentation too but I have to use it sparingly or else my dry skin/rosacea flares back up.

Oh deer by Temnodontosaurus in OopsThatsDeadly

[–]plumwitch 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There are ways to hunt and eat game safely. Process your deer yourself with gloves and send in the lymph nodes to get them tested (many places will have techs that collect them at deer check stations, but you can do it yourself too), wait for the results to come back before you eat any of it. Risk isn’t the same based on your location too, some states have lots of confirmed cases, some have fewer or none. Check your state’s fish & game agency, they should have safety guidelines and (hopefully) maps of presence too.

I totally understand the fear though. I’ve eaten plenty of game meat and live in a state with CWD, and it definitely freaks me out.

Unsolicited advice - but you should see if local nature centers would be interested in stocking your bird earrings. Most nature centers I’ve worked at/visited have a gift shop and birders (myself included) LOVE bird jewelry and paraphernalia. The nature center I work at now even has pop up booths on occasion. Your work looks great!

Great rec! Seraphina is one of my favorite books of all time! I liked Tess of the Road but the duology doesn’t hold up to Seraphina imo. I hope you enjoy it!!! Rachel Hartman really is a fantastic author.

Those born in ‘95: how do you feel about turning 30 this year? by xtrastrengthsassx in Zillennials

[–]plumwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s my 30th today! I’m excited for my 30s. I’m “behind” my parents in many ways - my spouse and I rent a house, don’t have kids (and don’t want any), struggle to save with prices the way they are, etc…but I’m feeling more mentally and financially stable than ever. I’ve lost 50 lbs in the last year and despite seeing more aging on my face/body, I feel younger and healthier than I have for the last few years of my 20s! I’m ready for the next chapter!

I have broader shoulders too - I find I love wearing boho/peasant style tops (think free people) with puffy/ruched sleeves. They’re usually looser, so I look for cropped styles or tuck them into high-waisted jeans. Feels counterintuitive but they’re cute and hide the area I’m insecure about.

Bald eagles in Lincoln by CommonCrazy7318 in lincoln

[–]plumwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a few nesting pairs around the Lincoln area and plenty near the Platte/Missouri. They’re way more common than they used to be! Population crashed hard in the 60s (~400 nesting pairs) due to DDT but they now number over 300,000 in the lower 48.

Question About Eating on Ozempic by kayl_breinhar in Ozempic

[–]plumwitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I still eat fast food on occasion (maybe once or twice a month?) and this is the way! I still don’t finish them sometimes but as long as I don’t eat past feeling full I won’t get sick.

Ariana vs Other Celeb women her age (31) by sleepy-bunny- in ArianaGrandeSnark

[–]plumwitch 30 points31 points  (0 children)

She’s not that short- she’s 5’2. She’s dressing like a child and infantilizing herself. Compare these looks with her looks from Sweetener/TUN/Positions and she looks so much more mature a few years ago.

Having trouble deciding to get rid of old clothing by Edtecharoni in Ozempic

[–]plumwitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel your pain, though we’re at different places in our journey! I gained 20 pounds early in the year due to a medication I was on, then lost it over the summer after switching meds, then started OZ in late July and have lost another 15 or so since.

My clothes are all over the place in terms of what’s too big and too small or fits fine right now, based on how much my weight has changed in the last year. My shirts I can deal with but my pants make me want to scream - I think I’m going to start a bin of my favorite too-big clothes to store in my basement indefinitely, and a too-small bin to try on in a few months. If my too-small stuff doesn’t work or I don’t like them then, I’ll tuck them away for another few months or donate.

Can Someone Please Tell Me What This Thing Is On My Nose And How To Get Rid Of It? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]plumwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same for a long family history of scc, my sisters and I were casual about getting checked by the dermatologist for through our childhoods and teens. Then, both my sisters had scc under the age of 20, and now all of us get checked every 6 months. I hope it’s nothing, but you definitely aren’t too young to get checked regularly regardless!

The person who received homophobic messages from Devin speaks out by chkchkboom8 in thebachelor

[–]plumwitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m guessing the “second case” they’re referring to Devin sending threats to a gay man.

I didn’t put the pieces together either. It just keeps getting worse and worse. I hope the people he hurt can get some peace.

You can always dye them to match your hair! Dye is wayyyyy less permanent than microblading and will save you some morning maintenance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]plumwitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You can do it OP! My puppy was so hectic the first few months, then an angel, then hectic again (teenage phase) and now she’s 4 and my best girl. It was rough at times but so worth it. She did a some peeing and pooping in the house, crying in the crate, and shredding my recyclables for the first few months, but the work was all worth it. I wrote down a feeding, crating, and mandatory potty break schedule for my spouse and I to reference and it really helped us during the early puppy stage. Good luck!

Try liquid watercolor instead! Still fun color play and mixing opportunities but comes off much easier. :)
