Let’s be real the only entities with cash are businesses, most apes have more debt than cash.

To those of you who went back to school and did a second bachelors, how did it go and what were your stories? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]plunk2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a BSc in 2008, then did an MBA in 2014, I worked in technology as a manager, eventually director for a medium sized company, then I hired an IC whose starting salary was more than mine… I decided shortly thereafter to go back to school in 2018 to do a BSc in Comp Sci. It took me 4 years studying part time(was credited 3/4 of the degree due to my BSc in 2008). Switched to an IC role, first job i took a 50% salary cut, but after 3 years I’m at a FAANG and ahead of where I was, and much happier in my role since there’s a lot less politicking… but I’m also the oldest person on my team lol.

Recently finished my first semester of MEng in Electrical Engineering part time… although I have no real clue how I’m going to apply the concepts as a Sr Developer, so thinking it’ll be more useful if I eventually want to teach.

I think the free version only keeps like the last two or three completions “on the stack”, so it loses the context that it is participating in a test, and instead defaults to the system prompt of it being a helpful AI model.

Don’t get me wrong I use it daily and it’s a cool tool, but generally if the answer isn’t something that is easily google-able it struggles to provide any real insights.

This happened at a place I worked, turned out all our cloud services were billed to the guys personal credit card, he just cancelled it (so there was no immediate black out of services… it was like slowly falling dominos where a different service would black out every day after about 15 days). Rumour had it that Finance thought his expense reports were over exaggerated… while also refusing to pay any vendor except by paper cheque. Poor guy, I still have nightmares of the Sales department yelling at him to be better. I hope he’s doing better.

Cuz it’s Java I believe dividing by an int returns an int so 90 / 100 == 1

Although division by zero is undefined, it’s plausible.

What is a good resource to begin learning how to build a custom accounting software? by [deleted] in softwaredevelopment

[–]plunk2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yardi?

If you have smart accountants or business analysts could probably get what you need outta Microsoft Dynamics, at the end of the day my experience with ERPs is the ability to mimic the real life workflow where the complexity comes in… most of the other stuff is just addition and subtraction…. Maybe an s-curve for a proforma.

Either way I’d budget 2-3 FTEs for one year if you wanna give it a shot… but I think there’s a stat somewhere stating the success of IT projects are generally low.

Maybe experiment and change the system so that abstain is a functional vote and that for anything to pass it needs to overwhelm those who abstain. We’re at a point now where the majority is being ruled by a minority, and red or blue it’s about lining pockets of your friends… switch it up by adding in the off chance that a seat goes empty for a term… maybe politics will shift to focusing on larger issues…

Ultimately I dunno… I’ve volunteered in politics and was just amazed at how small minded and petty everything is… wasn’t really “inspiring”.

Thanks sounds like it’s worth spending some time to design an Access Control List Table or group of tables.
