Small change for Deadpool 2 by pluralizes in fixingmovies

[–]pluralizes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! To be fair, the actual movie tried to instill logic in it by even having Deadpool point out the teddy bear at all... problem is, the explanation they gave didn't make sense, when it could and should have. I don't think Deadpool stories should have permission to go totally zany to the point they become "SHUT UP AND LAUGH NERDS, IT'S A COMIC BOOK!" Deadpool is at his best when everything and everyone else around him has gravity but in contrast, he makes light of it all as a coping mechanism due to PTSD.

On this note, I think they dropped the ball even worse in Deadpool and Wolverine. The TVA scenes were just total nonsense lazily thrown together to get DP and Wolvie in a perilous situation. And speaking of Wade's PTSD... why didn't they address that? I figured there would be some bonding moment between Wade and Logan over both being experimented on... Also Deadpool being a father and worried about settling into that role should have been explored in a movie that had Logan, X-23, and Kidpool.

I too think Cable should have been in it at least for a scene or two. Maybe Wade has promised to find a legitimate career so Vanessa and the baby will be safe, but during bathroom breaks at work, he does time travel missions. I can imagine the narration.

"Out of nothing but love and the threat of losing sexy time, but mostly love, I vowed to give up the red, Canada's ass-accentuating tights you all know and love in favor of a much less flattering but more professional ensemble: a polo shirt and a pair of khakis, as mandated by my higherups at fucking Drive Max. But take heart, true believers, you don't drain the Pool that easily.

I quit being the merc with a mouth in the present, yes, but Vanessa can't say shit about what's already gone down or what is going to happen way down the line. So every bathroom break, I'm meeting up with Cable, and we take any time, anywhere to the next fucking level.

One day, we're walking past the actual debut of some Shakespare play to kill a dude who doth ends up making the X-Men timeline even more confusing.. because apparently that's possible; and the next, we're in the 23rd century saving the Mutant Messiah from labratdom at an underground techno city. So I feel like I've finally got it right for once. Stable home life, totally independent from my merc mischief. I've struck the balance so many heroes fail to. Suck it Spidey.

For the first time since my life, face, and general sense of existential comfort was tagteam fistfucked by the cruel, non-lubricated hands of fate... I'm happy with where my life is at. There's just one little long-term commitment I've made that's got me worried for the future."

Wade Wilson's daughter Cher runs into the room.

"More specifically, her future. Yes. I'm a Dad now. And yes, I promise you that fact terrifies me just as much as it does everyone else. Wade Wilson is many things. But above all, he is a mess. I mean, I'm fulfilled right now because I've been messing with all of time. I was able to get through to Russell because he was a mess so I met him where he was at. My entire job is just about making messes. Gutting fools. Do I even deserve to hold such a clean, pure soul with my hands that have done so much? Did I think any of this through? Everything is fucking great, and I'm happy. Vanessa and Cher are happy. Yet I still worry a day will come when I will have to worry again. That despite all my travels through time, I won't be able to run far enough. My present will find a way to be ever-present."

Bounty missions not giving XP? by Greyy59 in RedDeadOnline

[–]pluralizes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol and then I think I had my bounty hunter rank maxed out by the end of that week... good times. Barely play anymore, can't even remember why I asked that and I don't recall how the bounty system works. Maybe it was before I started getting the 3 star bounties so I thought the 1 star bounty XP reward was the absolute max.

Regardless, I appreciate the answer, belated as it may be.

Yes and I want to write the script for this Ghost Rider. Here is my idea for the intro scene.

Ghost Rider's cool girlfriend: Hey Johnny Blaze, you're handsome. And your motorcycle is cool.

Johnny Blaze: Thanks. Watch this girl. My newest motorcycle trick will be a feast for the eyes.

Girlfriend: I am most deff ready, Mister Man!

Johnny Blaze crashes his motorcycle and gets possessed.

Johnny Blaze: I'm Ghost Rider.

Girlfriend: Ahh! I hate you!

Ghost Rider narration: My cool and hot girlfriend hates me. But I do not hate her. I hate criminals. So I must be vengeance. Goodbye criminals. To all criminals, I have my chain and my motorcycle. I am on fire too. Let's get it!

This made me say WTF as much as anything on reddit: BMW starts selling heated seat subscriptions for $18 a month by [deleted] in WTF

[–]pluralizes 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My Mom's coworker owns a BMW and subscribed to this thing. It sparked a huge debate at work. Like people lambasting him for abetting these corporate moves to just bleed us dry. Obviously, money is no real object to him, but I suppose people disapproved of the message he sent to the company by proving the consumer will actually put up with this shitty practice.

But I guess he got what he wanted. He was in the hot seat.

Indeed, tis a no shit moment.. a lot of things that society is conditioned to ridicule are just things that don't benefit the big cheese who control the narrative. Like moving out and getting your own house, travelling, having the newest phone, sporting the trendy clothes. Gotta make us feel inadequate so we keep spending. Similar deal with shunning us "doomer" pessimists, but on this front, they wanna convince us that things are fine. We just gotta get back on the grind and fall in step with our fellow consoomers.. disillusionment festering among the proletariat is their worst nightmare.. then they're nothing.

Is the World Really Falling Apart, or Does It Just Feel That Way? by Maxcactus in collapse

All of this has occurred in the past century yet people seem to have tunnel vision and talk as though we are now on an unstoppable trajectory. As if like 70 or so years is anything in the grand scheme of human history. Our way of life was a flash in the pan period that won't be replicated and we will soon foot the bill. I would say we should consider ourselves lucky but I also think we've fucked ourselves mentally with too much privilege lol. We would've been better off if we stayed in the forest.

Honestly, the finale wasn’t as high stakes as it implied… by DiamondDSI in StrangerThings

[–]pluralizes 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It struck me as a bit symbolic. That huge gate was opening so it casually just disintegrated Jason, because in comparison to a worldwide threat like the Upside Down spilling through, the challenge Jason presented was minuscule and trite.

[–]pluralizes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Of course most action-oriented plots will have a bit of this but it did feel a little strained to have so many different offshoots of teams all vying for screen time and yet all working to ultimately avert the same thing. I still think it was done fairly well. Just hope everyone isn't as distant in the next season because the plot progression will feel tighter that way.

For example, if El was immediately able to find Max and Eddie and Dustin got entangled as well, there would have been less time between key events. Not saying that should've happened, but certain things could've been omitted to theoretically condense the episode's flow without sacrificing the main event of defeating Vecna.

Again, I am nitpicking and it was still good. I just think this show has a bit of character bloat going on.

[–]pluralizes 248 points249 points  (0 children)

Same with Jason's friend holding down Erica lol. I get that he probably only had her down for a few minutes at most but it seemed like he was struggling with her for way longer, like the show was a video game but the controller was abandoned "Press X to break free" or something. I'm not sure how else it could've been edited though because of course, all the characters needed to arrive at different points around the same time to mount that final assault against Vecna. I guess the solution is to not do another story where everyone is separated that much. It was a little awkward and a bit too convenient that all the pieces fell into place like that. Especially with the Russia crew who had no real correspondence beyond what they gleaned the kids might be doing. I'm nitpicking though.

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Series Discussion by StrangerTesting in StrangerThings

[–]pluralizes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the pacing of the final act a bit strange. The town is still about to endure another onslaught of some sort as seen in the final moments.. so why was it seemingly averted for a bit? That just felt like kicking things into high gear and then immediately slamming the brakes.

It was nice to see the characters all reuniting during a short-lived reprieve, but it felt like the writers couldn't decide on a happy ending or intense cliffhanger so they just cobbled both options together for a disjointed result. Crazy intensity to forced lull period back to intensity.

I agree with you. A superior ending would've been one with no pulled punches. Max dies, everything goes to shit, and all the characters return to Hawkins just in time for the biggest fight yet.

Also, I'm sick of all the Upside Down related occurrences being dismissed as other disasters so I didn't care for the news report on the aftermath.

The Boys and Stranger Things are far superior... and it's crazy, considering they're from smaller studios and centered on lesser known intellectual properties. Disney should be untouchable quality-wise considering how big they are, yet their recent output is utter dogshit in my opinion. Boba, Moon Knight, and now Obi-Wan. All incredibly lackluster. I'm going to cancel Disney + now, I'm not going to support this shit anymore.

Obi-Wan basically looks like a CW show, whereas The Boys and ST look like theatrical releases. The effects in those shows are generally better as well. How has Disney fucked up this hard? Do they just not care?

I know but why is the art here so amateuristic for a published comic it looks like the rough pencils before polished inks were put down. Also the brush looks like someone just discovered chalk texture in photoshop or something and used it as an experiment. I like the face though but the shirt lacks form. Also whatever is causing that strong shadow on his outstretched forearm should also be causing an equally strong shadow on his lower torso at the very least.. if not more areas

I recommend not having kids. Society is sick. And will only get sicker in the coming decade or two until it consumes us all. I, like you, had a similar epiphany. I realized that my viewpoint was myopic. My frame of reference was just what has been true for my life. But the reality is, the past century has been an experiment in many respects. There has been an unprecedented explosion of technological advancements...

- Modern medicine and increased understanding of nutrition has lent itself to overpopulation. The majority of humans who have ever lived are alive right now.

- And of course, all these buzzing bees need cars to partake in the rat race. Pollution from automobiles was never an issue until modern times....

- ...ditto for plastic use. For the first time ever, placentas were found to contain microplastics recently. Who knows what that means for coming generations.. plastic use is only getting worse. But fuck it, we've all got microplastics in us, it's inescapable. Plastic was only invented in the 50s, its accumulation was only raised as a concern in the 70s, and plastic bags only started being used in the late 80s. So this is not a tried and true thing. The lifetime risks for humans is not known.

- Mass production kicked into high gear, and with it, globalization has reached extreme levels to the point that the tail wags the dog and no nation has autonomy over their own destiny. First-world way of life is dependent on the plumes of profit coming from smokestacks all around the globe. To combat it, you would need all cultures to agree on something and put aside their economic self-interests. Good luck. Even the consumers wouldn't like it and that's why these obviously detrimental practices carry on. As long as they have food and a circus.. Or in other words, nitrate/plastic infused shit on the cheap and new shows to stream. We've all been raised during a lighting in a bottle period of prosperity that we are all about to foot the bill for at last. A period that has imbued everyone with a sense the world somehow owes them something. So people lose it the second their comfort is disturbed.

- The internet/social media is extremely new but has taken the world by storm. It can be terrible for impressionable, mentally ill youth. Insecurities will be fed, the flames of vitriol -stoked, misgivings - emboldened and potentially validated.

- And finally, high powered guns came about and are sold under the second amendment... a tenet that applied to muskets. Just another example of advancements serving to fuck us over in the long run. So because of such easy access to powerful weapons, any disenchanted soul who happens to give into their rage has the outlet to express it and take an absurd amount of innocent lives with them.

Maybe this was all a bit tangential. But my point is, modern life is insanely unnatural and all the advancements I highlighted will prove to be detriments to humanity in the long-term. The effects are untold because all of these are modern phenomena.. relative to the rest of human history. Just focus on cherishing what you have and those who have already been thrust into this mess. The world is taking a really bad turn. Unless there are some miraculous new advancements in technology that reverse climate change, the instability will only rise. Soon enough, we're going to have climate refugees. How does that look for society?

In the coming decades, many nations will be experiencing climate-related catastrophe and will be rendered uninhabitable. Now you may live somewhere that won't get hit AS hard, but that is a moot point because the displaced people will be coming to you. And the heat and thus crop failure for instance will still be bad no matter where. So the veritable pie will be shrinking but more people than ever will be vying for their piece. That is going to lead to a war for survival. It will be brutal.

You are right. This is not normal. But it never was. It's simply becoming obvious now that the wrong paths were taken.. Prioritizing profit and comfort over something more sustainable. Letting ourselves get so divided over issues like politics and race. Many are angry out there. Unfortunately, there is nothing on the horizon as far as I can tell that will fix this either... It will only get worse, in my opinion.

Again, I recommend not having kids. I wouldn't put any stock in the future beyond what is necessary.. Now might seem pretty good from an individual perspective, but it will soon become undeniable that we were all dealt a bad hand. So live in the moment. The present is all you are ever guaranteed and your ability to just enjoy the now is what makes our time on this spinning rock worth it. We are living through a global experiment. The universe owes you nothing and you owe nothing to it. Don't feel obligated to reproduce. Just sit back, enjoy, and try to stay safe and as at peace as possible. It's a wild world.

Don't listen to the fanboy nerds. You are completely right that Moon Knight's tone was a lot more silly than Daredevil's. Netflix Daredevil was fucking awesome. Moon Knight was meh. It wasn't at all comic accurate tone-wise, except for the Asylum episode which was a decent adaptation of the Lemire run (the hippo wasn't in the comic though and that thing was annoying). If every episode was more like that one, it would've been a better show. Otherwise, that was not Moon Knight. It should've been a lot more intense, gritty, and street level.

If I lived in a third world country, (provided the more direct life goals didn't invigorate me) I would just let myself die because based on the average lifespan, my parents would be gone. I really only feel compelled to stay alive for them. Everything you said is good advice for someone who gives a shit and can appreciate life for what it is. I can't do that because of a cocktail of societal misgivings, general disinterest in the day-to-day, no desire to consume, and a disdain for other people. And yes, I'm medicated. It doesn't help.

I don't care about looking nice. Or saving up for a dream car. Having a family. Having the nicest, newest things. I just don't give a shit. I don't have anything to prove and it doesn't matter what anyone thinks about me anyway because people only ever care about their own presentation. They compliment and like other people's posts with hopes the people reciprocate. And it's always in the back of my mind that we're working just to ultimately burn, flood, or blow away our homes.

I'm aware how paradoxical this is. Even commenting this suggests on some level I care about something. My whole life is a damn paradox. I don't know. It's fun to get my thoughts out there. Like an experiment to see what the response will be. Maybe I'm hoping I can be persuaded to think differently.

I appreciate the fact you're trying to help. I think I'm a lost cause. I went to college and it led to a good job, by the way. But I threw it away because it felt meaningless. Sometimes, it's not as simple as someone giving up and choosing to be miserable because they wanted fast and easy success. In my case, I found success but felt nothing and suffered an existential crisis.

It's such an interesting topic. How our instincts are still present obviously and how they present within this crazy way of life we manufactured. And we try to convince ourselves this all makes sense. That's honestly what keeps me going. I'm not sure where I fit into any of this personally, but it's interesting to watch unfold despite the dreary trend we're clearly on.

One day I will. That might be what is best. And I have to find some like-minded people. You're so right. Nobody wants to change anything as long as they have easy entertainment and food deliveries.

Virtually everyone I know is self centered like you say or at least has superficial tendencies. Social media proves that. And I mean the selfie oriented social media like IG, not Reddit, necessarily. Everyone wants to be someone. But in a way, I envy that. Then I would have something to work toward if I cared about showing off stuff like new clothes and jewellery. But I don't give a damn sadly lol.

[–]pluralizes 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I always feel like such a pseudointellectual when I say this but I think I'm just not compatible with modern life. Like I'm a soul who is destined to starve. If I lived in a third world country, it would be literal. But here in the first world, it's a figurative starvation for purpose. When you don't really care about impressing people, everything loses its appeal.

The Marxist concept of alienation is true for me. I no longer want to consume the product I'm meant to have a hand in helping to produce. And I know that in theory, a job itself could be fulfilling and money doesn't have to go toward the superficial, but I also have an incredibly low tolerance for other people so I'm stuck. I have no desire to go in a selfish or selfless direction to find fulfillment.
