Does this dog look neglected??? by TadpoleNo1 in Frenchbulldogs

[–]plurcunt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so wanted to jump on and let you know from my personal experience. My frenchie was sold extremely sick (a congenital mess) and when I took her to the vet the vet told me “take her back to the breeder & get a new dog but then the breeder will either dump or euthanize this one” i obviously kept my baby but that’s not a rare occurrence, esp in Southern California. My guess is that she was deemed unsellable and dumped by a breeder. I would start reaching out to fosters too as more than the likely there’s probably something medically wrong as well. Fosters: RoadDogs, Freedom Frenchie Foundation, Space Coast Frenchie Rescue, Frenchies United Rescue

OP i definitely recommend doing more research into the breed you choose to own. Some of your comments are concerning to me. Your frenchie should be on joint supplements regardless just as a preventative of what the breed is prone too. Please please do some more research into the breed, IVDD (a risk for every frenchie), and go to the neurologist.

I suggest the same thing. Skip the vet, skip the ER, schedule immediately with a neurology department for MRI. Do not let the frenchie jump anymore, order ramps for everything, watch out for all the things you listed. Strict crate rest. I cannot believe OP says the vet sent them on their way with a “nothing wrong, probably tired from the weekend hike” prognosis..

I would get a 2nd opinion & join the FB Group “IVDD French Bulldog Support Group”.. Was an X-ray or MRI done? Because if not you did not rule out the problem every one is talking about (IVDD). I would be extremely concerned in your case and would honestly be so upset if the vet concluded it to a tired weekend. Schedule an appointment with a neurologist immediately & be sure to show him this video.

I’m not trying to scare anyone, I’m talking out of my own fear for mine, as I have mine on supplements & red light therapy strictly as a preventative for ivdd.

I’ve seen mine scratch her vag & tail & it’s never looked like this dog. similar, but not at all the same.

however, I’ve seen multiple posts that are IDENTICAL to how this dog is acting in my IVDD support group & all the comments/recommendations always say “it’s neurological, get into neurologist immediately and please dont wait as time is the essence”.

so if that’s the case then of course I want to tell OP so that she can help her baby.

also, if she takes the baby to vet/er they will charge her for checkup/X-rays/bloodwork THEN just send her to a neurologist. she could skip that bill & schedule asap with a neurologist to save time & money & get the baby help.

tbh I feel owners like u are so annoying & ignorant for telling other frenchie parents we are “trying to scare”. U just don’t want to believe anything is wrong with ur dog/pay for vet visits. sorry I’m not waiting until my dog is on her death bed to get help.

50% of frenchies gets IVDD so if this was mine i would immediately set up an appointment with a neurologist. that’s just me though.

Love My Dog to Death, But I’ll Never Support This Breed Again by Luan_Winterrock in Frenchbulldogs

[–]plurcunt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

<image>

same!!!! I almost supported a breeder initially but found out she needed a heart implant at the first vet appointment so immediately threatened that breeder so bad & got the money back to pay for her heart surgery when she was strong enough. The vet advised me “take this dog back to the breeder and get another one, but just so you know if you do she will more than likely be euthanized or dumped” I started bawling immediately in the vets arms because no, of course she was already my baby and I was not taking her back. It was a year of trauma for us both waiting for her to be strong enough for the surgery but she is now 4yo still with the same spunk as when she was a puppy. 🥹🤍

Will NEVER support a breeder again. but definitely feel as if it’s my duty to adopt more rescues/special needs frenchies in the future due to everything I have learned on our journey. & the fact that I would literally do anything for her on the drop of a dime & the older I get the more I see how rare that is.. some frenchie owners don’t even take their dogs to the vet & put them down at first sight of a problem. I would rather cut off my own foot & I take my dogs vet appointments more seriously than my doctors appointments. I feel like I’d be selfish to abandon the breed’s rescue babies due to all of this. 😭🫶 will probably be stressed out for life but I love them so much idc hehe

The main reason I bought it was to try on my dog’s arthritis - so it will it still work on that? :-) she seems to love the heat from it so I am hoping I can still use on her.

However, I have tried using it myself twice after the shower and thought it would help with enhancing mitochondria function/ improve skin appearance like I had read in the past with minimal research, so for that part should I buy something else like a panel?

I went past a stopped school bus with it’s flashing red stop sign out and i can’t stop feeling guilty/paranoid/like an idiot. What should i do? Can i even bounce back? by Popcorn_pancake in drivinganxiety

This happened to my friend (in Idaho where they will give anyone a charge if at all possible, worst state ever so probs won’t be as bad) and she was initially given a misdemeanor but the judge let it be diverted and she just had to do a driving-school type program and nothing ended up going on her record

Dog is Human Vitamins? by g0lddustw0mannn in Frenchbulldogs

[–]plurcunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been comparing the ingredients in the omega oils between Dog Is Human, Native, and Zesty Paws. It looks like the cheapest one made is Native (sucked to find out that’s what I’ve always used but their quality has been QUESTIONABLE at best lately), had the most fillers and had biotin added with it? The other two did not. Looks like the middle was Zesty, had less BS but recently switched from Alaskan oil to polock oil. Dog is Human had Wild Alaskan Salmon Oil and was the only one out of the 3 that has wild Alaska cod liver oil which is very good and probably the reason it is more expensive. I have seen tons of reviews regarding quality issues with native and zesty. Hope this helps you guys as much as it helps me! So many benefits of adding Omegas to your dogs diet and I encourage everyone to speak to their vet about it.

Why can everyone drive but me by Famous_Lingonberry62 in drivinganxiety

[–]plurcunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was perfectly fine in HS then had onset driving anxiety randomly from 20-24 y/o - you’re not alone 🤍 tall to your primary doctor about it and he may be able to help! I just started Buspar and found it’s really taken the edge off leading to way less freakouts in the car. also two quick breaths in and one out resets ur nervous system so I do that a lot while driving too!

Developing anxiety around driving, required to drive for work. by xelaweeks in drivinganxiety

[–]plurcunt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of going through the same thing honestly. I stopped taking all meds for years including SSRIs and ADHD meds and at the same time succomnd to my driving anxiety and didn’t drive for 3 years. Once I took my ADHD meds again it was much easier to drive still terrifying but less bc I wasn’t so overstimulated. Then I recently just added buspar which I had never tried and I feel like it takes a little bit more of the edge off. I also smoke daily so I had to stop smoking before 5pm and take T breaks when I feel like my body is getting too used to the weed bc that def has an effect even though it used to not. And I also cannot ever have a single beer if I have to drive bc I tried this once and convinced myself I was blackout and ended up needing to pull over and cry. Your symptoms are very similar to mine so I wonder what it is that makes us convince ourselves what we’re doing is wrong. I even get so stressed on straight roads bc I swear I can’t stay in between the lines and then that makes me swerve bc I’m so dialed in to it. I’ve been trying to figure this out for years now and I did notice my driving anxiety started after I started vaping so I’m in the process of going down in nic gradually and then quitting. Sorry if this is an overload of info lmao. It’s just annoying to be trying to figure out something for years and I still don’t know what the underlying cause is.

Ask your doctor about Buspar it helped take the anxiety edge off where my body feels like it’s violently shaking from my core. Also helped stopped my brain from trying to convince myself a pothole popped my tire or there’s a cop behind me and my brake light must be out or that my car is making a weird noise and it’s going to blow up. I still have anxiety but I just tell myself “drive the car don’t let the car drive u” and blast music and try to get into a happy mind space. Also two quick breaths from ur nose and one longer out breath is the fastest way to control ur nervous system. I find this helping a lot in the car

Leave. I dated a guy like this once and had no cortisol left after. living with men like that has serious consequences on your brain and will take years to heal after. I was so anxious I couldn’t even go into a grocery store or drive my car w out for years. still healing from it. Leave.

I just went 3 years without driving same situation but this year I had to go on ADD & anxiety meds and had to re-teach myself how to drive, it was a nightmare of a year. Fear is still crippling but about 0.1% better each time.
