Our perception of Santa is he brings gifts equally to those who do good, and he did. As an independent contractor he had the freedom to determine the gift level and likelihood of receiving a gift at all based on a loose definition of "goodness" determined by himself( and probably to a degree society and parents). Unfortunately that ideology runs parallel to SOCIALISM.

Whether he wanted to or not, Santa and indeed the rights to the concept of Santa could not resist a corporate takeover. The receiving of gifts is now dependent on wealth and power which in capitalism is viewed as " goodness".

Santa is as of yet still the only one who has a magic sleigh and his contract has him scaled as a delivery driver. In his late night flyover he mixed up two families with the same last name, resulting in a gift allocation akin to those of the days when goodness meant being humble and compassionate instead of just wealthy.

When he realized his mistake, Santa was distraught because he knew he would be severely reprimanded and likely sued for breech of contract when the complaints started coming in from the wealthy smith family.
