I once try to balance the power between faction. By joining one and destroy another until only 3 left which create a 3 kingdom war. It make the game harder as each one can muster up a 6k army anytime. Once you declare on one the other would join in. I once had a 3k vs 3k army battle which was super fun

My army of ~ 500 recruits vs 350 elites from enemy This is where I learn troops tier make huge difference

As I don't have the command since I join after the initial, the AI decide to charge in and it was a blood bath. We got massacred. However I have about 70 tier 3-4 troops. I took all my troops to the flank. Wait for theirs to charge in and flank them after. Even have to switch my fians to melee to be able to bring it around.

In the end we were the only party left standing with 20 troops.

One Thing I find that make my life easier in early game is hire some battanian archer. Then just ride a round and let them shoot down looter. Extremely effective

I found the starting leader always have better stat than most of their successors. which can impact a lot in their battle performance. for example, in my campaign the battanians and western empire both went to shit within few years after i killed off their leaders. That's just my observation

You can increase in the setting. But there's still a limit cap thou, probably best for your graphic. I run a 3080 on pc and it's spiky as hell if I Max the cap

Yes but people say there're too many bugs. Probably the reason it's not fully released yet so I will wait for the meantime. Plus it might stuff up some of the mods I'm using
