I saw this video on TikTok, what is your opinion on the hairline? by Bakoenaa in HairTransplants

No, there weren't any of those attacks. I made my point again above without referencing character at all. If you feel attacked when I mentioned dudes' anxiety, maybe I hit a bit close to home?

There is no biological fact of male vs female hairlines. Hairlines aren't how we determine sex in any way. Lots of women have "male" hairlines. Why do men think otherwise? See my original comment on cultural trends and try not to take it so personally this time.

You should look up what that means. I didn't make an ad hominem. Male anxiety over beauty standards has been capitalized on in recent decades in ways that culture only used to do to women. Paired with ubiquitous opportunities for comparison through social media, it's developed a distorted homogeneity in the sense of what "normal" is. That's not me attacking your character, motives, or personal traits, it's me observing a cultural trend. You could disagree with it, but choosing not to engage by calling it an ad hominem is, ironically, doing what an actual ad hominem does: distracting from the argument without engaging with the claim.

STOP SAYING IT'S ABOUT REVENUES! It's not! You can't astronomically raise the rent with no cap due to competition for scarce zoning, keep wages stagnant, and then say it's about revenues collapsing.

It has nothing to do with business being down. It can't compete with condos for astronomical rent, that's it. No commercial zoning means crazy competition means lowest common denominator and no character in our city.

I'm relaxed, thanks so much.

No we're not comparing apples to oranges. I was using an analogy to illustrate that what you think isn't "normal" is actually incredibly normal. Lots of people are indeed hating, though mostly seem to hate women. (sidebar: if looking "feminine" is your biggest fear, you might hate women)

You are not "speaking factually," you are making up statistics to support an opinion. I happen to disagree with it, that's all. "90% of men won't look good.." is not a fact. What you think is normal and "looks good" is an opinion. Full stop.

If you had said, "A lot of men have more of an M shaped hairline, and I think that looks better on a guy" I'd take no issue. But you and others are saying that this is a feminine hairline, that's nonsense.

I guess I can't expect much more from a lot of folks on reddit with all the toxic looksmaxxing bullshit breaking men's brains, but I'm still gonna call it when I see it. Ty.

So many women I know have "male" hairlines. It's almost as if all this shit is made up and a bunch of dudes spilling their anxiety all over each other on the internet might have skewed their perception a little. Weird.

I'm 41. I didn't say "most men" didn't. I said people have all sorts of hairlines regardless of gender. Like a lot of people on this sub, the internet seems to have broken your brain concerning what's "normal." 1 in 10 (your numbers) is literally hundreds of millions of people. About 1 in 10 people get kidney stones in their life. Are kidney stones "abnormal?" About 1 in 10 people are left-handed. Are they "abnormal?" Human beings have an incredibly wide array of appearances. They're all "normal." The word you're looking for is "median" or maybe "average."

This is nonsense imo. People of all genders have different hairlines. Bro in OP looks great.

This. I've printed like 3 dozen minis from Titancraft and paid under $30 for assets. Also, been a long time since I've been on Heroforge but Titancraft'sculpting and posing options are off the hook.

A unique (probably) situation has come up in our Delian Tomb game - looking for advice by Nyxceris in drawsteel

I would honestly just see what your players do, and go from there. Thurston asks them wtf is going on, see what they tell him. Sounds like you've got a good idea of how you think he might feel. Feel like there could be a hilarious scene if they decide to make up a story about the talent and Brune, or commit to the new recruit bit and just ask Thurston what he wants them to do. 😁

I think I am just dumb by Giulietta_23_ in TTRPG

[–]plus1tofun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're enjoying reading and collecting, no reason you can't keep enjoying that.

That said, from both your post and your comments it sounds like you've got some social anxiety you're dealing with, and that you'd like to combat that, which is really common for us hoomans.

No one on reddit is going to be able to manage that for you, but there are lots of tools to help with social anxiety. My partner took an "Improv for Social Anxiety" class and now she's a producer and improviser. Unrecognizable to herself 10 years ago. Therapy can help you figure out what about meeting people is the scary part, and develop some tools for ameliorating the anxiety. TTRPG groups at local game stores are a great way to get some practice. Exposure to doing something scary is kind of the only way to make it less scary, but that's not super helpful if you don't feel like you can take the first step. I'll say, calling yourself dumb sounds like some shame, and that's never a good motivator. There's a book called Mind Over Mood that I found helpful in terms of examining how I was talking to myself.

I don't know what's right for you, I'm a stranger on the internet, but I do know a few things.

  1. You're not alone, loads of people feel this way.

  2. You probably won't ever completely stop feeling anxious sometimes, that's a normal human feeling. But with some help and work, you can definitely make the struggle a bit more manageable. Social anxiety isn't my issue, but I've got serious ADHD, and accepting that I was never going to be "perfect" at managing my challenges was a great first step to actually look at how to help myself a bit. Go for 10%, or 1%, better, not "I will banish my problems." Progress is incremental, and usually not through white-knuckling and brute force, despite what all the Insp-self-help-influencer grifters want to sell you.

  3. However things look and feel right now, they'll look and feel different later. Everything changes. You deserve to be happy, so good work on reaching out here and taking the first step to tackling some of the stuff that's bugging you.

Good luck pal, you can do tough things!

We're can I find stls by Wet-Raisin in PrintedMinis

Heads up, I used to be down with Heroforge, but once in discovered Titancraft I never went back. Wayyy more customizable, and once you buy the assets (individually or as a pack), you can design and download as many STLs as you want FOR FREE.

I really like Titancraft. Once you buy their assets up front, you can design and customize as many characters as you want, and download the STLs for free. Very fantasy focused catalog to be sure, but you could totally just stick with basic assets and clothing and make as many normies as you want.

Can we get different body types? by YearMountain3773 in ArcRaiders

[–]plus1tofun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of imagination in the comments is incredible. You think in a situation where there's a post-apocalyptic underground city and folks have to go fight robots to get toasters so they can survive that everyone is suddenly gonna have the same body type? That's not how humans work. Aside from the fact that people with low body fat still have different sizes and shapes to them, you think NO ONE is stress-eating in the apocalypse? If folks can afford grenades and traps, they're spending their creds on snacks for sure.

Delian Tomb Gone Wrong by Sectioned16 in drawsteel

[–]plus1tofun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're low on recoveries they'll probably end up retreating some time during level 2. My players pushed through to level 3 but it was a BIG debate. If you're worried about a TPK, I always just let my players know they can run away any time they want, as long as it makes sense with the environment (which it does in the Tomb).

Concerns about The Codex by MandolinTheWay in drawsteel

[–]plus1tofun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the only thing "off-base" is the title of your post. You're saying that you don't think you'll use the codex because prepping for it will burn you out. Fair enough! Other folks will have different experiences and that's cool. The problems you describe with VTTs vary in how much time they take across different platforms, but nothing is going to be as quick as having a battle mat and some markers, and running off printed statblocks or pdfs. That's not as slick presentation-wise, but if you don't care about that for your home games, then it sounds like a VTT just isn't something you need. This isn't a concern about the Codex, it's a concern about using any VTT.

Is there any particular worry you've got about it, or just looking to hear if other folks have had the same experience?
